Objective: Compare the relative efficacy of Desyncra and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Design And Study Sample: Sixty-one participants were randomly assigned to receive either Desyncra ( = 29) or CBT ( = 32). Randomisation included stratification regarding current hearing aid (HA) use. Depending on group assignment, participants attended approximately 7-12 visits. Tinnitus distress was measured using the Tinnitus Questionnaire (TQ).
Results: Mean TQ scores decreased post-baseline from 5-15 points across treatment arms and strata. Model-based findings for the no-HA stratum showed a difference of -2.0 TQ points favouring Desyncra at 24-weeks, with a 90% posterior interval varying from -5.4 points favouring Desyncra to 0.8 TQ points favouring CBT. For the HA stratum, results show a difference of -1.0 TQ points favouring Desyncra, with a 90% posterior interval ranging from -4.7 points favouring Desyncra to 2.9 points favouring CBT.
Conclusions: The difference between Desyncra and CBT on average showed greater improvement with Desyncra in the no-HA stratum by about 2 TQ points. To the extent that the study sample represents a clinical population and recognising the assumptions in the design and analysis, these results suggest Desyncra is just as effective or more so than CBT in reducing tinnitus distress.

This research utilizes density functional theory to investigate the ground and excited-state properties of a new series of organic dyes with D-π-A configurations (D1-D6) for their potential application in dye-sensitized solar cells. The study focuses on modifying these dyes using various functional groups as π-bridges to optimize their electronic properties and improve their efficiency as sensitizers in DSSCs. The frontier molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) were analysed to evaluate electron transfer properties.

The formation of fibrocartilage in microfracture (MFX) severely limits its long-term outlook. There is consensus in the scientific community that the placement of an appropriate scaffold in the MFX defect site can promote hyaline cartilage formation and improve therapeutic benefit. Accordingly, in this work, a novel natural biomaterial-the cartilage analog (CA)-which met criteria favorable for chondrogenesis, was evaluated in vitro to determine its candidacy as a potential MFX scaffold.

The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine the association between rheumatoid arthritis and periodontal disease. This systematic review and meta-analysis of the scientific literature was carried out based on the recommendations of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). We analyzed all studies that evaluated the relationship between the chronic inflammatory diseases through the response to non-surgical periodontal treatment, comparing the values of CAL (Clinical Attachment Level) for PD (periodontal disease) and DAS28 for RA.

Background/objectives: There is scattered information in the scientific literature regarding the characterization of probiotic bacteria found in fermented milk beverages and the beneficial effects of probiotic bacteria on human health. Our objective was to gather the available information on the use of probiotic bacteria in the prevention of civilization diseases, with a special focus on the prevention of obesity, diabetes, and cancer.
Methods: We carried out a literature review including the following keywords, either individually or collectively: lactic acid bacteria; probiotic bacteria; obesity; lactose intolerance; diabetes; cancer protection; civilization diseases; intestinal microbiota; intestinal pathogens.

In the tissue regeneration field, stem cell transplantation represents a promising therapeutic strategy. To favor their implantation, proliferation and differentiation need to be controlled. Several studies have demonstrated that stem cell fate can be controlled by applying continuous electric field stimulation.
