The extract of Ginkgo biloba leaf is a popular herbal product or dietary supplement in the world to treat various diseases, and flavonol glycosides are considered as the main bioactive constituents. In this study, 37 flavonol glycosides were rapidly screened out by precursor ion scanning in positive ion mode with production ions at m/z 287.05, 303.05, and 317.06. Subsequently, a reliable and sensitive ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometry approach was established and validated to quantify the 20 prototype flavonol glycosides in rat plasma. Calibration curves showed good linearity (R ≥ 0.9894) over the corresponding concentration range. The precision, accuracy, extraction recovery, matrix effect, and stability were also satisfactory. The validated method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study of prototype flavonol glycosides in rat after oral administration of the extract of G. biloba leaf. As a result, the T of flavonol glycosides was short at 0.11-0.60 h. Quercetin-3-O-(2",6″-di-O-rhamnosyl)-glucoside, kaempferol-3-O-(2'',6''-di-O-rhamnosyl)-glucoside, quercetin-3-O-rutinoside, quercetin- 3-O-glucosyl-(1-2)-O-rhamnoside, and kaempferol-3-O-glucoside presented relatively high systemic exposure levels with AUC  > 500 μg h/L and C  > 100 μg/L. This study would provide the valuable information for further scientific research and clinical application of the extract of G. biloba leaf.

Background: Dietary adjustment has consistently been regarded as an effective and health way for both the prevention and treatment of constipation. Several researches suggest a significant correlation between dietary flavonoids intake and gut microbiota, while the relationship between dietary flavonoids and constipation has not been reported. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between flavonoids intake and constipation.

This study revealed a substrate-level synthesis of pigment cyanidin-3-O-glucoside and the redirection of metabolomic flux in the flavonoid/anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway in poplar adventitious roots (ARs) induced by stem canker pathogens. Recently, we observed a novel allometry on poplar stems, with copious colorful adventitious roots (ARs) induced by fungal canker pathogens. Here, we reveal chemical, physiological, and molecular mechanisms of AR coloration in poplar-pathogens (Valsa sordida/Botrosphaeria dothidea) interaction system using our phloem girdling-inoculation system.

Previously undescribed benzophenone rhamnosides, triadenosides A-F (1-6), were isolated from the aerial parts of Triadenum japonicum (Blume) Makino (Hypericaceae), where known compounds including benzophenone rhamnosides (7 and 8), benzophenone C-glucoside (9), flavonols and their glycosides (10-17), and biflavone (18) were also isolated and identified. Detailed spectroscopic analysis revealed that triadenoside A (1) was 2,3',5'-trihydroxy-4,6-dimethoxybenzophenone 2-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside, while the absolute configuration of the rhamnosyl moiety was confirmed by HPLC analysis. Triadenosides B-E (2-5) were assigned as acetyl derivatives of 1 in their rhamnosyl moieties.

is a lesser-known plant species belonging to the genus that grows in Kazakhstan. The aim of this study was to characterize the composition of the ethanolic, water, and hydroethanolic extracts from the aerial parts of by HPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS to isolate the major compound isoquercitrin by HSCCC (High-Speed Counter-Current Chromatography) and to determine the cytotoxicity and anti-inflammatory potential of the extracts produced with this plant. Fingerprinting of the analyzed extracts showed the presence of a multitude of metabolites comprising polyphenols, organic acids, and coumarins, and only trace quantities of cardiac glycosides in the analyzed samples.
