The Timoshenko beam model is applied to the analysis of the flexoelectric effect for a cantilever beam under large deformations. The geometric nonlinearity with von Kármán strains is considered. The nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations (ODE) for beam deflection and rotation are derived. Moreover, this nonlinear system is linearized for each load increment, where it is solved iteratively. For the vanishing flexoelectric coefficient, the governing equations lead to the classical Timoshenko beam model. Furthermore, the influence of the flexoelectricity coefficient and the microstructural length-scale parameter on the beam deflection and the induced electric intensity is investigated.

In this paper, the free vibration of piezoelectric nanobeams considering static flexoelectric, dynamic flexoelectric, and surface effects is studied. Based on the theories of the Timoshenko beam and Euler-Bernoulli beam, a theoretical model of flexoelectric nanobeams is established and the governing equations and boundary conditions of this model are derived using the variational principle. Then, the analytical solution of the frequency equation is obtained by using the Navier method.

Natural antimony targets were irradiated in a 60 MeV bremsstrahlung beam and gamma spectrometric measurements were performed. The goal was to establish the yield of Sn, a radionuclide with great potential for application in medicine. Considering that Sn is predominantly produced through a photonuclear reaction in which an charged particle is emitted (Sb(γ,p3n)), the yield of this tin isotope is much lower than the yields of several antimony isotopes produced in (γ,xn) reactions.

Steel cross-sections with thin walls are vulnerable to fire-induced buckling instability, which reduces their load-bearing capacity. Eurocode 3 design provisions have been found inadequate, leading to alternative methods such as effective design strategies and advanced structural models built mostly with shell FE, which can be complex. For Class 4 steel beam-columns subjected to fire conditions, beam-type modelling to predict the Flexural-Torsional Buckling (FTB) strength has been proposed as an alternative approach, but it has not yielded satisfactory results for large compressive load eccentricities.

Herein, a Timoshenko-Ehrenfest beam-based reconfigurable elastic metasurface is introduced that can perform multifunctional wave phenomena within a single substrate, featuring high transmission in the ultrabroadband frequency range. Conventional elastic metasurfaces are typically limited to specific purposes and frequencies, thereby imposing significant constraints on their practical application. The approach involves assembly-components with various geometries on a substrate for reconfigurability, enabling to easily control and implement multifunctional wave phenomena, including anomalous-refraction, focusing, self-acceleration, and total-reflection.
