spec. laccase (EC 1.10.3.2.) mediates the oxidative coupling of antibiotics with sulfonamide or sulfone structures with 2,5-dihydroxybenzene derivatives to form new heterodimers and heterotrimers. These heteromolecular hybrid products are formed by nuclear amination of the -hydroquinones with the primary amino group of the sulfonamide or sulfone antibiotics, and they inhibited in vitro the growth of species, including multidrug-resistant strains.

Amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) is one of the most studied strategies for improving the dissolution performance of poorly water-soluble drugs, but ASDs often have low drug loadings, thereby necessitating larger dosage sizes. This study intended to create Soluplus® (SOL)-based microparticle ASDs with high drug loading (up to 60 w/w%) and long-term stability (at least 16 months) using electrospraying to enhance the dissolution of poorly water-soluble celecoxib (CEL). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses showed that the electrosprayed SOL-CEL microparticles were amorphous, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) data indicated the presence of hydrogen bonding between SOL and CEL in the microparticles, which helped stabilize the ASDs.

B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) with the fusion gene has a poor prognosis, and the mortality rate exceeds 90%, particularly in cases of extramedullary relapse (EMR). Herein, we present a case of a 46-year-old male patient who developed relapsed B-ALL with . The patient initially achieved a complete remission (CR) after induction therapy and underwent haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

An Asian woman in her 70s was started on trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) for treatment of her left fourth toe osteomyelitis. During the course of her therapy, she developed renal tubular acidosis despite being immunocompetent with no known renal disease. Cessation of TMP-SMX and supportive care resulted in resolution of her condition.

Here, we describe a rare case of drug-induced unilateral ciliary body effusion precipitated by topical brinzolamide, presenting acutely with pain, angle closure and myopic shift.Ciliary body effusion was suspected clinically and confirmed by ultrasound biomicroscopy. Brinzolamide was ceased, atropine instilled and the ciliary body effusion promptly resolved without need for further treatment.
