Article Abstract

The antenna presented in this work is based on a meandering monopole patch antenna with the incorporated shorting-pin technique for the realization of multiband antenna. The proposed antenna is printed on an FR4 with a footprint of at the lowest operating frequency. The antenna proposed demonstrated six resonances with suitable bandwidth as well as gain which make it suitable for WiMAX, LTE-A, aeronautical radio navigation, sub6GHz band for 5G, and WLAN applications. The prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated, measured, and presented. The comparative analysis of the proposed antenna with the recently reported works shows that the proposed antenna outperformed its counterpart in terms of size and number of bands. Therefore, the antenna reported in this work is a suitable and promising candidate for future portable mobile communication devices.

Molecular evidence for the role of the ovipositor of the fall armyworm: Where to lay or not to lay?

Insect Sci

Oviposition behavior in insects has received considerable attention, but studies have mainly focused on the antennae, neglecting the role of the ovipositor. In this study, we investigated the functional characteristics of the ovipositor in oviposition site selection by the fall armyworm (FAW) Spodoptera frugiperda, a destructive invasive pest of maize and other cereals. In oviposition choice assays females exhibited significant repellency to isothiocyanate (ITC), volatiles specific to non-preferred cruciferous plants.

Fluorescence sensing is widely used in in vitro detection due to its high sensitivity and rapid result delivery. However, detection systems based on nanomaterials involving complex and cumbersome purification steps can lead to sample loss and significantly reduce the accuracy of the results. To address this issue, we proposed a lanthanide-based aptasensor featuring the target-triggered antenna effect to significantly enhance the time-resolved luminescence (TRL) of chelated Tb combined with a wash-free strategy.

In recent years, exoskeleton robots have attracted great interest from researchers in the area of robotics due to their ability to assist human functionality improvement. A wearable lower limb exoskeleton is aimed at supporting the limb functionality rehabilitation process and to assist physical therapists. Development of a stable and robust control system for multi-joint rehabilitation robots is a challenging task due to their non-linear dynamic systems.

Terahertz (THz) generation via photomixing on photoconductive antenna using twin delayed chirped pulses provides a long THz pulse with a narrow bandwidth. To generate a long pulse with a broad bandwidth, we propose a new, to the best of our knowledge, method that combines two long optical pulses with opposite chirps. The pulses exhibit temporal distributions of their instantaneous frequencies with opposite slopes.

A sensitized dual-response ratiometric fluorescent sensor integrated smartphone platform for accurate discrimination and detection of tetracycline homologues based on N-CDs‒Eu complex.

A sensitized dual-response ratiometric fluorescent sensor integrated smartphone platform for accurate discrimination and detection of tetracycline (TC) homologues was fabricated based on N-CDs-Eu complex. In the sensing system, N-CDs act as a sensitizer of Eu and significantly enhance the fluorescence of TC-Eu complex approximate 40-fold owing to the synergistic effect of antenna effect (AE) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). A paper sensor integrated with a smartphone platform is further fabricated for on-site measurement of TC.
