Pre-hospital & Emergency Research Centre, Health Services and Systems Research, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, Singapore. Electronic address:

Background: Bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has increased in Singapore, Japan, and South Korea following the implementation of several public health, bystander-focused interventions, such as dispatcher-assisted CPR and community CPR training. November 2020

Rehabilitation Center, Qilu Hospital, Cheelo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan 250100, China.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a diffuse inflammatory pulmonary damage caused by excessive ROS that break the coordination of normal physiological structures and functions. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), one kind of ROS, is a hopeful biological marker for inflammation-related diseases. Therefore, the excessive generation of HOCl might be a significant reason for oxidative injury in ALI.

Bisphosphonates and breast cancer - From cautious palliation to saving lives.

Bone

November 2020

Mellanby Centre for Bone Research, Department of Oncology and Metabolism, University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Electronic address:

Bone metastases are common in breast cancer and may cause considerable morbidity including fractures, severe pain, nerve compression and hypercalcaemia. Alongside developments in the multidisciplinary management for patients with metastatic breast cancer, the use of bisphosphonates, and more recently denosumab, has transformed the course of advanced breast cancer for many patients resulting in a major reduction in skeletal complications, reduced bone pain and improved quality of life. Additionally, because the bone marrow microenvironment is so intimately involved in the metastatic processes required for cancer dissemination, the use of adjuvant bisphosphonates has been studied extensively over the past 25 years in many randomised trials.
