Background: Rheumatic mitral stenosis (RMS) is a common valvular heart disease in developing countries. We sought to evaluate the early experience of patients with RMS undergoing transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR).
Methods: In this retrospective study, a total of 5 RMS patients accepted TMVR.
Background: Glycolic acid (GA) is an α-hydroxy peeling agent that causes controlled removal of the epidermis, with or without the dermis. Studies have shown the ability of GA to stimulate fibroblast proliferation, induce collagen synthesis, and decrease collagen degradation. The VoluDerm radiofrequency microneedling (RFMN; Pollogen, Tel Aviv, Israel) utilizes an array of microelectrodes to penetrate the epidermis and deliver energy to the skin.

Introduction: Evaluating the antiviral potential of commercially available mouthrinses on SARS-CoV-2 holds potential for reducing transmission, particularly as novel variants emerge. Because SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted primarily through salivary and respiratory secretions and aerosols, strategies to reduce salivary viral burden in an antigen-agnostic manner are attractive for mitigating spread in dental, otolaryngology, and orofacial surgery clinics where patients may need to unmask.
Methods: Patients ( = 128) with confirmed COVID-19-positive status within 10 days of symptom onset or positive test result were enrolled in a double-blind randomized controlled trial of Food and Drug Administration-approved mouthrinses containing active ingredients ethanol, hydrogen peroxide, povidone iodine, chlorhexidine gluconate, cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), or saline.

The LuX-Valve Plus is a novel radial force-independent orthotopic transjugular transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement device proven to be effective in TR reduction. We describe preprocedural assessment for eligibility and procedural planning by means of computed tomography as well as procedural steps of device implantation under multimodality imaging guidance including transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), intracardiac echocardiography (ICE), and fluoroscopy: steering into the right ventricle, leaflet capture by graspers, fine valve adjustment, and septal anchor deployment. Potential pitfalls are avoided by achieving optimal alignment by means of TEE multiplanar reconstruction to steer the delivery system, and using mid-esophageal and deep gastric views of 3-dimensional TEE and supplementary ICE to visualize the graspers for leaflet capture, especially when TEE imaging is technically challenging.
