We describe the synthesis of [-PhP(O)(CH)SbPh] ([2]), an intramolecularly base-stabilized stibonium Lewis acid which was obtained by reaction of [-PhP(CH)SbPh] with NOBF. This cation reacts with fluoride anions to afford the corresponding fluorostiborane -PhP(O)(CH)SbFPh, the structure of which indicates a strengthening of the PO → Sb interaction. When deployed in fluoride-containing POPC unilamellar vesicles, [2] behaves as a potent fluoride anion transporter whose activity greatly exceeds that of [PhSb].

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of home-use desensitizing agents over an 8-week period by comparing them using different measurement methods.

Methods: A randomized, controlled clinical trial was conducted with 180 individuals aged between 18 and 70 who clinically diagnosed dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in two or more non-adjacent teeth. Subjects who met the inclusion criteria (n = 164) were randomly allocated into five test groups-using Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), Arginine, Novamin, Propolis, and Potassium nitrate-and a control group using standard fluoride toothpaste.

In recent years, the regulation of anion-mediated chiral assemblies has gained significant interest. This study investigated the modulation of supramolecular chiroptical signals and chiral assembled structures in a triarylamine system containing a urea moiety through fluoride ion-urea bond interactions, aiming to understand the chiral sense amplification in supramolecular assemblies. Chiral triarylamine derivatives containing urea or amide units were synthesized and the self-assemblies were examined in the absence and presence of fluoride ions.

All-solid-state fluoride-ion batteries (FIBs) have attracted extensive attention as candidates for next-generation energy storage devices; however, promising cathodes with high energy density are still lacking. In this study, CuN is investigated as a cathode material for all-solid-state fluoride-ion batteries, which offers enough anionic vacancies around the 2-fold coordinated Cu center for F intercalation, thereby enabling a multielectron-transferred fluorination process. The contribution of both cationic and anionic redox to charge compensation, in particular, the generation of molecular nitrogen species in highly charged states, has been proved by several synchrotron-radiation-based spectroscopic technologies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness and safety of dentifrices containing Nano silver fluoride (NSF) against the bacteria Streptococcus mutans, which causes tooth decay.
  • Researchers synthesized NSF particles and created dentifrices with varying concentrations of NSF, assessing their antimicrobial properties using an agar diffusion method and cytotoxicity on mouse macrophage cells.
  • Results showed that NSF dentifrices inhibited bacterial growth effectively while also evaluating their impact on cell viability to ensure safety for use in oral health products.
