The peripheral blood leukocytes in chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) patients and healthy donors are separated on ficoll-verografin one-step gradients with 1.077 g/ml density. It is shown that 95-98% of donor granulocytes had the density above 1.077 g/ml. Granulocytes of CML patients consisted of two populations having the density above and below 1.077 g/ml (high density granulocytes-HDG, low density granulocytes-LDG). The electrophoretic mobility (EPM) of LDG is 8-34% higher than that of HDG. As a result of EPM definition of granulocytes affected by hyaluronidase, neuraminidase and RNase it is shown that the high EPM of LDG is due to an increase in the density of sialic acids on their surface.

Sesamol (SES) possesses remarkable chemotherapeutic activity, owing to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential. However, the activity of SES is mainly hampered by its poor physicochemical properties and stability issues. Hence, to improve the efficacy of this natural anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic agent, it was loaded into β-cyclodextrin nanosponges (NS) prepared using different molar ratios of polymer and crosslinker (diphenyl carbonate).

Background: Safinamide, a highly specific inhibitor of monoamine oxidase B, is a new approved prodigious therapy used to cure Parkinson's disease (PD).
Objective: Before marketing and selling a medicine, manufacturers must guarantee that the manufacturing process is consistent by monitoring levels of process-related chemicals and drug contaminants. Therefore, five precise, fast, and accurate spectrophotometric techniques were employed and evaluated for the simultaneous measurement of safinamide and its synthetic precursor, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde.

Fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) are potential tools for the labeling of cells with many advantages such as photostability, multicolor emission, small size, rapid uptake, biocompatibility, and easy preparation. Affinity towards organelles can be influenced by the surface properties of CDs which affect the interaction with the cell and cytoplasmic distribution. Organelle targeting by carbon dots is promising for anticancer treatment; thus, intracellular trafficking and cytotoxicity of cationic CDs was investigated.

Ten new xanthone derivatives have been designed and synthesized for their potential antibacterial activity. All compounds have been screened against Staphylococcus epidermidis strains ATCC 12228 and clinical K/12/8915. The highest antibacterial activity was observed for compound 3: 5-chloro-2-((4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazin-1-yl)methyl)-9H-xanthen-9-one dihydrochloride, exhibiting MIC of 0.

The synthesised zeolite X from coal fly ash showed significant cytotoxic activity in contradiction of HeLa cells (cervical cancer) in a concentration-dependent way at concentrations ranges from 200 µg to 0.781 µg/ml as shown by MTT assay and failed to cause cytotoxic effect in normal cells (Gh239). Cell cycle analysis exposed that zeolite X (10 and 15 µg/ml) endorses cell growth inhibition by inducing G2/M phase arrest in HeLa cells as observed using flow cytometry.
