Teleconsultation is one of the components of telemedicine. Developmental pediatricians provide assessments and followup to children with developmental challenges. During the pandemic, due to movement and travel restrictions and the importance of continued care, pediatricians started working remotely with virtual consultations. The objective of this study was to describe the implementation of virtual care, the characteristics of patients seen, and their families' perception. A total of 122 teleconsultations were scheduled. Patients' mean age was 40 ± 13 months. The most common reasons for consultation were absence of and delay in language and behavioral difficulties. Although 16 % of families described some obstacles, all were grateful for the consultations. Virtual health care should be regarded as a complement to in-person care, alongside reductions in costs and travel time and the possibility.

Unlabelled: In pediatric outpatient care, overuse and misuse of antibiotics is linked to a high risk of adverse events and increased antibiotic resistance. In 2019, building upon the work of the Antibiotic Therapy in Bielefeld (AnTiB) project (founded in 2016), a collaboration among the AnTiB, the German Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (DGPI), and the Professional Association of Outpatient Pediatricians and Adolescent Physicians (BVKJ) was established to develop consensus recommendations for antibiotic therapy in pediatric outpatient settings in Germany. This working group became the Antibiotic Stewardship in Outpatient Pediatrics (ABSaP).

Background: Since 2001, the American Academy of Pediatrics has released and twice revised guidelines tasking paediatricians with screening children for developmental disorders, but diagnoses are often delayed. Paediatricians in the United States are also responsible for referring patients with identified concerns for services and for managing their long-term care.
Objectives: This review aims to chronologically synthesize available literature about paediatricians' perspectives surrounding their roles in identifying and managing early childhood disorders and to identify how future interventions can best address these perspectives.

Background: Cerebral creatine deficiency disorders (CCDD) are rare diseases caused by defects in the enzymes L-arginine: glycine amidinotransferase (AGAT) or guanidinoacetate-N-methyltransferase (GAMT), which are involved in synthesis of creatine; or by a defect in the creatine transporter (CRTR), which is essential for uptake of creatine as important energy source into the target cells. Patients with CCDD can present with a variety of unspecific symptoms: global developmental delay, speech-language disorder, behavioral abnormalities and seizures. Early treatment initiation is essential in AGAT and GAMT deficiencies to achieve a favorable outcome.

This study aims to explore the long-term physical, neurological, social and emotional development outcomes of the offspring born to patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and to provide insights that can assist pediatricians in enhancing the long-term prognosis of these children. We conducted a cross-sectional study on the offspring of SLE patients who had undergone pregnancy and were admitted to our obstetrics department between January 1, 2016 and September 30, 2021. The control group consisted of offspring born to mothers without connective tissue disease, and was matched 1:1 based on age (birth date ± 1 month) with the offspring of SLE patients.

Objectives: To report the neurodevelopmental outcomes after a fetoscopic myelomeningocele (MMC) repair and to compare them with children who had an open-hysterotomy repair or a postnatal repair.
Study Design: 132 infants were included (prenatal repair: 93 [69 fetoscopic and 24 open-hysterotomy]; postnatal repair: 39). Neurodevelopmental outcomes at or beyond 18 months were evaluated by a developmental pediatrician using the Capute scales (Clinical Adaptive Test [CAT]/ Clinical Linguistic & Auditory Milestone Scale [CLAMS]) and/or during parental interview using Developmental Profile 3 (DP-3) test.
