Male hypogonadism (MH) is a common endocrine disorder. However, uncertainties and variations in its diagnosis and management exist. There are several current guidelines on testosterone replacement therapy that have been driven predominantly by single disciplines. The Society for Endocrinology commissioned this new guideline to provide all care providers with a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with MH. This guideline has been compiled using expertise from endocrine (medical and nursing), primary care, clinical biochemistry, urology and reproductive medicine practices. These guidelines also provide a patient perspective to help clinicians best manage MH.

Neurosurgery
February 2025
Global Neurosciences Institute, Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , USA.
Background And Objectives: Despite growing interest in how patient frailty affects outcomes (eg, in neuro-oncology), its role after transsphenoidal surgery for Cushing disease (CD) remains unclear. We evaluated the effect of frailty on CD outcomes using the Registry of Adenomas of the Pituitary and Related Disorders (RAPID) data set from a collaboration of US academic pituitary centers.
Methods: Data on consecutive surgically treated patients with CD (2011-2023) were compiled using the 11-factor modified frailty index.

Department of Hematology, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Faculty of Medicine, Niigata University, Niigata, Japan.
Background & Aims: This study assessed the association of remission of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)/related SLD (r-SLD; MASLD with excessive alcohol intake) as defined by the fatty liver index with the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
Methods: Health examination data at baseline and after 2 years (2-Years) were extracted from a nationwide claims database in Japan. Among participants aged 18-72 years with at least 3 years of follow-up, 9345 participants with DM-associated MASLD/r-SLD and 71 932 participants with non-DM MASLD/r-SLD at baseline were included in the study.

Objective: To report patient-reported quality-of-life (QOL) outcomes in the DAYLIGHT study.
Study Design: DAYLIGHT was a phase 3b, randomized, double-blind, 24-week, placebo-controlled study. Participants were women aged ≥40 to ≤65 years with moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms (VMS) considered unsuitable for hormone therapy (HT) (contraindications, caution, stoppers, or averse) randomized 1:1 to placebo or fezolinetant 45 mg once daily.

Division of Orthopedic Surgery, Oslo University Hospital, Oslo, Norway.
Unlabelled: Subsequent fracture rates and associated mortality were compared before and after the introduction of fracture liaison service (FLS). In 100,198 women and men, FLS was associated with 13% and 10% lower risk of subsequent fragility fractures and 18% and 15% lower mortality. The study suggests that FLS may prevent fractures.

Unit of Oral Medicine and Dentistry for Frail Patients, Department of Rehabilitation, Fragility, and Continuity of Care, Regional Center for Research and Care of MRONJ, University Hospital Palermo, Palermo, PA, Italy.
Background: Low-doses of bone modifying agents (LD-BMAs) compared to those used to treat bone metastases are used in breast or prostate cancer patients on adjuvant endocrine therapy to prevent Cancer Treatment Induced Bone Loss (CTIBL). Their use is associated with an increased risk of developing Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (MRONJ). However, there is not clarity about strategies aimed to minimize the MRONJ risk in cancer patients at different conditions as low- vs high-doses of BMA.
