Decoding the role of SLC25A5 in osteosarcoma drug resistance and CD8+ T cell exhaustion: The therapeutic potential of phyllanthin.

Phytomedicine

December 2024

Department of Hematology, Liuzhou People's Hospital affiliated to Guangxi Medical University, Xining, Qinghai, China; Department of Hematology, The Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital, Xining, Qinghai, China. Electronic address:

Osteosarcoma is an aggressive malignant bone tumor with an obscure etiology, as well as high prevalence and poor prognosis in children and adolescents. We aimed to investigate the pathogenesis of osteosarcoma through a comprehensive analysis of the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) using multiple single-cell RNA sequencing datasets. SLC25A5, a gene implicated in cellular aging, significantly influenced osteosarcoma development by altering the TIME and promoting CD8+ T cell exhaustion, which contributed to reduced chemosensitivity.

Large Dipole Moment Enhanced CO Adsorption on Copper Surface: Achieving 68.9% Catalytic Ethylene Faradaic Efficiency at 1.0 A cm.

Adv Mater

December 2024

The Soft2D Lab, State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Thermal Ageing, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, 200240, China.

The electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide (CO) into hydrocarbon products emerges as a pivotal sustainable strategy for carbon utilization. Cu-based catalysts are currently prioritized as the most effective means for this process, yet it remains a long-term goal to achieve high product selectivity at elevated current densities. This study delved into exploring the influence of a topological poly(2-aminoazulene) with a substantial dipole moment on modulating the Cu surface dipole field to augment the catalytic activity involved in CO reduction.

Revealing the Potential of Linnaeus for Cosmetic Purposes: Chemical Profile and Biological Activities of Commercial and Wild Samples.

Mar Drugs

December 2024

Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR/CIMAR), University of Porto, Terminal de Cruzeiros do Porto de Leixões, Av. General Norton de Matos s/n, 4450-208 Matosinhos, Portugal.

The natural products industry is gaining increasing interest, not only due to modern lifestyles becoming more aware of environmental and sustainability issues but also because of the loss of efficacy and undesirable side effects of synthetic ingredients. This pioneering study provides a comprehensive comparison between extracts obtained from wild and commercial samples of Linnaeus, highlighting their multifaceted benefits in cosmetic applications. The antiaging potential of acetone (70 and 90%) and ethanol 60% extracts from wild and commercial samples of , focusing on their application in cosmetics, was explored.

Decoding Brain Development and Aging: Pioneering Insights From MRI Techniques.

Invest Radiol

October 2024

From the Department of Radiology, Juntendo University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan (A.H., S.K., J.K., M.N., W.U., S.F., T.A., A.W., K.K., S.A.); Department of Radiology, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan (A.H., M.N., S.F.); Polytechnique Montréal, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (S.N.); Montreal Heart Institute, University of Montreal, Montreal, Quebec, Canada (S.N.); and Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Skopje, North Macedonia (S.N.).

The aging process induces a variety of changes in the brain detectable by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These changes include alterations in brain volume, fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) white matter hyperintense lesions, and variations in tissue properties such as relaxivity, myelin, iron content, neurite density, and other microstructures. Each MRI technique offers unique insights into the structural and compositional changes occurring in the brain due to normal aging or neurodegenerative diseases.

Bioinformatic Annotation of Transposon DNA Processing Genes on the Long-Read Genome Assembly of s.

Bioinform Biol Insights

December 2024

Cellular Informatics Laboratory, Cluster for Pioneering Research (CPR), RIKEN, Saitama, Japan.

Transposable elements (TEs) or transposons are thought to play roles in animal physiological processes, such as germline, early embryonic, and brain development, as well as aging. However, their roles have not been systematically investigated through experimental studies. In this study, we created a catalog of genes directly involved in replication, excision, or integration of transposon-coding DNA, which we refer to as transposon DNA processing genes (TDPGs).
