The ganglion of the wrist is very common but with uncertain prognosis. The arthroscopic resection seems to improve the result compared with open procedure, in decreasing recurrence and morbidity. Volar ganglions are close to the radial artery, the flexor pollicis longus tendon, and even the median nerve. Ultrasonography combined with arthroscopy offers incomparable safety for the resection of volar ganglions. The technical steps of this combined procedure are described, and the first published series are discussed.

Synovial ganglions, common soft tissue tumors of the hand and wrist, typically occur in the dorsal and volar aspects of the wrist, but intra-articular cases are rare. We present a case of a 27-year-old equestrian with persistent left wrist pain who was diagnosed with an intra-articular radiocarpal synovial ganglion after failed conservative management. Arthroscopic resection led to complete resolution of symptoms and functional recovery.

Wrist ganglion cysts are the most common benign soft tissue swelling in the hand and wrist. They may arise from flexor and extensor tendon sheaths, interphalangeal joints, wrist joints, and even the neural tissues around the hand and wrist. Some volar wrist ganglion cysts arise from the radiocarpal joint and scaphotrapezial joint.

Intralesional steroid injections avoid potential side effects associated with systemic administration, such as hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression, endocrine changes, allergic reactions, syncope, and blindness, but do not spare local side effects, such as pain, hemorrhage, ulceration, atrophy, hypopigmentation, calcification, secondary infection, granuloma formation, and allergic reaction. Linear leukoderma following intralesional steroid is a rare but known complication. Here, we report a case of a 23-year-old female presented with cutaneous linear depigmentation along the volar aspect of her left forearm developed three months following a single episode of injection triamcinolone acetonide for ganglion cyst.
