  • An automatic pretreatment system was created to help separate and identify sulphide ions in complex liquid mixtures used in desulphurization processes.

Article Abstract

In the research of carbon dots (CDs) containing various nitrogen sources, it was first found that urea/citric acid-CDs showed a selective discolouration reaction with sulphide ions. Therefore, by optimizing various synthesis and detection conditions of the CDs determining sulfur ions, such as the raw material ratio, temperature, time, pH, and oxidation atmosphere in the CD synthesis, a discolour CD-probe method for trace-level sulphide ions was developed. The method is environmentally friendly, shows two linear-response ranges in 0.050-1.0 mg L ( = -0.0827 + 0.8366) and 1.0-15 mg L S ( = -0.0209 + 0.7587) and can be used for the high and low concentration quantification of sulphide in various wastewaters. Subsequently, in order to realize the separation and detection of sulphide ions in wastewaters or rich- and barren-liquids containing -methyldiethanolamine and other substances in desulphurizing solutions, an automatic pretreatment system was also established.

The concentration of S is a vital environmental indicator for evaluating the quality of source water, surface water, and wastewater, and it has a significant impact on biological systems, particularly human health. Therefore, it is crucial to detect S selectively and sensitively. In this study, we developed a simple and rapid one-pot method to prepare a gold nanocluster (BSA-AuNCs) probe for fluorescence-enhanced detection of S toxemia and analyzed the morphological characteristics of BSA-AuNCs and its complex with S using various characterization techniques.

Cadmium (Cd), as one of the most toxic nonessential elements, severely prohibits plant growth and development. Hydrogen sulfide (HS) and methyl jasmonate (MeJA) play essential roles in plant response to abiotic stress. However, the potential mechanism of HS and MeJA in alleviating Cd stress in plants remains unclear.

The experiments were conducted at different levels of infrared power, airflow, and temperature. The relationships between the input process factors and response factors' physicochemical properties of dried garlic were optimized by a self-organizing map (SOM), and the model was developed using machine learning. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with 99% predicting accuracy and Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) with 97% clustering accuracy were used to determine the quality characteristics of garlic.

Bacteria of the genus Sulfitobacter are widely distributed across various marine environments and play a vital role in the sulfur cycle. Sulfitobacter pontiacus WPMT18310 was isolated from water samples collected at a depth of 10,890 m in the Mariana Trench. In this study, we report the complete genome of S.

In sulfidic anoxic environments, iron sulfides are widespread solid phases that play an important role in the arsenic (As) biogeochemical cycle. This work investigated the transformation process of FeS-As coprecipitates, the concurrent behavior, and the speciation of associated As under anoxic conditions. The results showed that FeS-As coprecipitates could convert to greigite and pyrite.
