Clenbuterol is present in animal tissues and organs and, therefore, potentially present in gelatin derived from animal sources. The objective of this study was to develop a method for identify an quantify traces of clenbuterol in gelatin and jellies. The clenbuterol calibration curve showed linearity in the range of 20-1000 pg mL. The detection and quantification limits were 5 pg g and 10 pg g, respectively. The recovery of the analyte ranged from 93.4 to 98.7% with an intra-day RSD% (n = 4) of 1.25%-3.25%, and an inter-day RSD% (n = 12) of 0.5%-2.25%, with good linearity (R = 0.99). The method developed and validated was successfully applied in 54 gelatin samples, 57.4% of which showed clenbuterol. This UHPLC-MS/MS method combines high sensitivity with good selectivity and short chromatographic run time.

The aim of this study was to optimize a Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) method using a zwitterionic phosphorylcholine HILIC column for the determination of several Persistent and Mobile Organic Contaminants (PMOC) in wastewater samples. An experimental design approach was implemented to both better understand the retention mechanisms of several polar compounds and to find the optimal operating conditions for their detection and quantification. Eleven PMOCs, with logD ranging from -5.

The residue of clenbuterol (CLB) in food poses a potential harm to human health. Herein, we presented an electrochemical aptasensor (E-A-CRISPR) based on employing an aptamer as a specific recognition element and asymmetric CRISPR-Cas12a as signal amplifiers for sensitive, and selective detection of CLB. In this E-A-CRISPR system, the target CLB bound to the aptamer and initiated cascade signal amplification through the DNase activity of CRISPR-Cas12a with two competitive gRNAs.

To achieve high throughput detection of clenbuterol while reducing matrix interference, we developed a simple and integrated nano-inspection platform. Herein, based on the simplicity and convenience of paper chip, a multi-layer paper chip-chemiluminescence (CL) sensor was designed in the form of "48-well plate" type. The all-in-one paper chip-CL sensor has integrated the covalent organic frameworks (COFs) layer for sample matrix purification, high affinity nanobody layer for specific capture of target, and CL rapid response layer for the final determination.

This study presents a method utilizing solid-phase microextraction Arrow (SPME Arrow) combined with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) for the selective detection of three veterinary drugs-thiabendazole, sulfamethazine, and clenbuterol-in milk and pork. Two-dimensional metal-organic framework nanosheets (2D-MOFs) were employed as coating materials for the SPME Arrow. Three types of 2D-MOFs (Ni, Mn, and Co based) were synthesized and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and a physical adsorption analyzer.
