Published: November 2021

Objective: Coronaviruses are large, enveloped, positive-stranded RNA viruses. These viruses contain spike-like projections of glycoprotein on their surface, which appear like a crown. Millions of infections and thousands of deaths have been reported worldwide to date. Hence, the objective of the present study was to look for in silico evaluation of certain commercially available flavonoids against SARS-CoV-2 enzyme.

Materials And Methods: The in silico docking calculations were carried out using AutoDock 4.2 software. For the computational investigation, Apigenin, Catechin, Galangin, Luteolin, Naringenin were selected. An anti-viral drug Remdesivir was selected as reference drug.

Results: In the present study we found that Naringenin showed excellent binding score with the SARS-CoV-2 enzyme compared to the reference drug and other selected flavonoids.

Conclusions: Based on the docking results, we conclude that Naringenin can be considered worthwhile to check its antiviral activity for the management of Coronavirus disease.

Institute of Food Crops, Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences/Hainan Key Laboratory of Crop Genetics and Breeding, Haikou, China.

Introduction: Sweet potato is an important food, feed and industrial raw material, and its tubers are rich in starch, carotenoids and anthocyanins.

Methods: To elucidate the gene expression regulation and metabolic characteristics during the development of sweet potato tubers, transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed on the tubers of three different sweet potato varieties at three developmental stages (70, 100, and 130 days (d)).

Results: RNA-seq analysis revealed that 16,303 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were divided into 12 clusters according to their expression patterns, and the pathways of each cluster were annotated.

Environmental conditions significantly influence the metabolic composition and quality attributes of fruits. This study investigated the impact of altitude-associated environmental variation on flavonoid profiles and fruit quality parameters by comparing the "Red Face" strawberry variety grown in two distinct locations: high-altitude-associated environmental conditions in Zhaotong and low-altitude conditions in Dandong. Using LC-MS/MS analysis, we identified 163 bioactive flavonoids, comprising 85 flavonols, 37 flavanones, 33 flavones, and 8 flavanonols.

Introduction: CD38, a regulator of intracellular calcium signalling, is highly expressed in immune cells. Mice lacking CD38 are very susceptible to acute bacterial infections, implicating CD38 in innate immune responses. The effects of CD38 inhibition on NLRP3 inflammasome activation in human primary monocytes and monocyte-derived macrophages have not been investigated.
