Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

School of Medical & Allied Sciences, K.R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, Haryana, India.

Background: Parkinson's disease is an hypokinetic disorder characterized by selective loss of dopaminergic in substantia nigra pars compacta (SNPc) region of mid-brain. Dopaminergic degeneration of neurons is considered to be due to oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, neurons mitochondrial dysfunction and glutamate excitotoxicity etc. Filgrastim has been reported to produce anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuromodulatory actions in previous studies.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent cause of dementia accounting for an estimated 60% to 80% of cases. Despite advances in the research field, developing truly effective therapies for AD symptoms remains a major challenge. Sweet almond contain nutrients that have the potential of combating age-related brain dysfunction, by improving learning, memory and neurocognitive performance.

Background: Abnormal glucose metabolism in AD brains correlates with cognitive deficits. The glucose changes are consistent with brain thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency. In animals, thiamine deficiency causes multiple AD-like changes including memory loss, neuron loss, brain inflammation, enhanced phosphorylation of tau, exaggerated plaque formation and elevated advanced glycation end products (AGE).

Background: Protein misfolding is a key pathological phenomenon driving neurodegenerative diseases that affect millions of people. Visualizing this misfolding process with smart imaging probes would greatly facilitate early diagnosis, etiology elucidation, disease progression monitoring, and drug discovery of neurodegeneration. Although numerous probes have been reported, several unmet needs still exist.
