Background: The minimally invasive Nuss procedure has emerged as the standard of care for correction of pectus excavatum. The site of chest wall insertion and bar shape are currently contoured on the basis of the surgeon's judgment. To optimize and individualize Nuss bar configuration, we aimed to create a virtual surgical planning workflow and 3-dimensional (3D) printed Nuss bar molds customized to each patient's defect.

The aim of our study was to assess the effects of low or high-starch diets with or without palmitic acid (C16:0) supplementation on the yield of milk, milk components, and energy partitioning of primiparous and multiparous dairy cows between mid and late-lactation. Thirty-two Holstein cows, 12 primiparous ([mean ± SD] 163 ± 33 d in milk) and 20 multiparous ([mean ± SD] 179 ± 37 d in milk), were used in a split-plot Latin square design. Parity was considered the main plot, and within each plot, treatments were then randomly assigned in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square with 21 d periods and balanced for carryover effects.

Liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) is commonly used for identification of compounds in complex samples due to the high chromatographic and mass spectral resolution provided. In subsequent data processing workflows, it is imperative to preserve this resolution to fully exploit the data. "Region of interest" (ROI) algorithms were introduced as a better alternative to equidistant binning for compressing HRMS data because they better preserve the mass spectral resolution.

Method: We used the Somascan assay for measuring the protein levels of 7,029 analytes in CSF of 2,286 participants from four different cohorts. We employed a three-stage analytical approach (discovery, replication, and meta-analysis).

Background: Brain, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and plasma metabolomics have been informative in identifying disrupted metabolism pathways in Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, many AD-focused metabolomics studies profiled a relatively small number of individuals and metabolites, especially for CSF. In addition, past studies were limited to one or two tissues.
