Urbanization had a huge impact on the regional ecosystem net primary productivity (NPP). Although the urban heat island (UHI) caused by urbanization has been found to have a certain promoting effect on urban vegetation NPP, the factors on the impact still are not identified. In this study, the impact of urbanization on NPP was divided into direct impact (NPP) and indirect impact (NPP), taking Kunming city as a case study area. Then, the spatial heterogeneity impact of land surface temperature (LST) on NPP was analyzed based on the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model. The results indicated that NPP, LST, NPP and NPP in 2001, 2009 and 2018 had significant spatial autocorrelation in Kunming based on spatial analytical model. LST had a positive impact on NPP in the central area of Kunming. The positively correlation areas of LST on NPP increased by 4.56%, and the NPP caused by the UHI effect increased by an average of 4.423 gC m from 2009 to 2018. GWR model can reveal significant spatial heterogeneity in the impacts of LST on NPP. Overall, our findings indicated that LST has a certain role in promoting urban NPP.

Aims: During pregnancy, fetal cells can migrate to the mother blood circulation. A percentage of these cells survive in maternal tissues for decades generating a population of fetal microchimeric cells (fMCs), whose biological role is unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the sex of offspring, an indirect marker of fMCs, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features in women with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Remote sensing of specific climatic and biogeographical parameters is an effective means of evaluating the large-scale desertification status of drylands affected by negative human impacts. Here, we identify and analyze desertification trends in Iran for the period 2001-2015 via a combination of three indices for vegetation (NPP-net primary production, NDVI-normalized difference vegetation index, LAI-leaf area index) and two climate indices (LST-land surface temperature, P-precipitation). We combine these indices to identify and map areas of Iran that are susceptible to land degradation.

A POI and LST Adjusted NTL Urban Index for Urban Built-Up Area Extraction.

Sensors (Basel)

May 2020

School of Environment Science and Spatial Informatics, China University of Mining and Technology, Xuzhou 221116, China.

Nighttime light (NTL) images have been broadly applied to extract urban built-up areas in recent years. However, the typical NTL images provided by Defense Meteorological Satellite Program/Operational Linescan System (DMSP/OLS) and National Polar-Orbiting Partnership's Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (NPP/VIIRS) have the drawbacks of low resolution and blooming effect, which bring difficulty for the application of them in urban built-up area extraction. Therefore, this paper proposes the POI (point of interest) and LST (land surface temperature) adjusted NTL urban index (PLANUI) to extract the urban built-up areas with high accuracy.

Spatial distribution of XCO using OCO-2 data in growing seasons.

J Environ Manage

August 2019

Department of Forestry, Faculty of Natural Resources, Tarbiat Modares University, Noor, Mazandaran, Iran. Electronic address:

The purpose of this research is to assess the spatial distribution of CO concentration during the growing seasons (April to September) in 2015 over Iran. The XCO data belonging to orbiting carbon observatory-2 (OCO-2) and eight environmental variables data consist of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), net primary productivity (NPP), land surface temperature (LST), leaf area index (LAI), air temperature, wind speed, wind direction, and national land cover map were modeled by multi-layer perceptron (MLP). The values of R and RMSE indices show the good performance of the multi-layer perceptron model for monthly models.
