Background: The technique of embryo cryopreservation has been increasingly applied in clinical settings. However, there has been a concern about the safety and efficacy of long-term freezing of embryos. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate whether storage time of vitrification had any effects on pregnancy as well as perinatal outcomes, further, to explore the appropriate time limit of vitrification.
Methods: The study included women who underwent at least one frozen-thawed cycle with single embryo transfer between January 1, 2016 and September 30, 2019. Patients were assigned into 3 groups according to the storage time (<3 months, 3-12 months and >12 months) to evaluate the impact of embryo storage time on pregnancy and perinatal outcomes. To further investigate the time limit of vitrification, propensity score matching was used to compare the primary outcomes of patients with storage time of 1-3 years, 3-5 years, and >5 years to those stored for ≤1 year.
Results: A total of 9806 frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles were included in our study. After adjustment for confounding variables, no significant differences were found in pregnancy outcomes among groups. However, postponement of transfer increased the risks of large for gestational age and placenta previa. In addition, after propensity score matching, 171 cycles with storage time >5 years were matched with those ≤1 year, both the clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate decreased significantly when the storage time exceeded 5 years.
Conclusions: The duration of vitrification did not significantly affect the pregnancy outcomes within 5 years period. However, the clinical pregnancy rate and live birth rate both decreased significantly when the duration of vitrification exceeded 5 years. It is worth noting that the conclusion was drawn from a small sample study after propensity score matching and should be treated with caution. In addition, the cycles were from different time periods, which could have an impact on the results.

Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have garnered significant interest due to their unique combination of phase transition characteristics, substantial entropy changes, simple preparation methods, and structural flexibility, making them promising candidates for applications in sensor technologies and data storage systems. In the present research, two plastic organic-inorganic hybrid phase transition materials: [CHNF]FeCl () and [CHNF]FeBr () were successfully synthesized by the H/F substitution strategy. Significant step-like dielectric changes were observed during the reversible phase transitions of (401 K) and (406 K).

Food authenticity and food safety issues have threatened the prosperity of the entire community. The phenomenon of selling porcini mushrooms as old mixed with new jeopardizes consumer safety. Herein, nucleoside contents and spectra of 831 Boletus bainiugan stored for 0, 1 and 2 years are comprehensively analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with Fourier transform near infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopy.

Atmospheric cold plasma (ACP), known for its safety, non-thermal processing, and energy efficiency, is especially effective for preserving perishable items such as seafood. However, excessive use of ACP may cause oxidation and sensory quality deterioration, which limits its application in the seafood industry. Thus, optimizing ACP treatment modes to balance sterilization efficiency with minimal oxidative effects is essential.

Total red (RBC) and white (WBC) blood cell counts are highly informative haematological parameters, holding substantial potential for advancing ecological and evolutionary research and conservation efforts. Yet, their use in studies on wild bird populations is rare as blood samples need to be stored in fragile glass flasks and analysed on the day of collection, which poses significant challenges in field conditions. Here, we aimed to make total blood cell counts more accessible for field studies by assessing their reliability in blood samples collected in more durable plastic tubes and stored for varying periods of time.

Phytic acid's high-efficiency flame retardant and N-halamine antibacterial were synergistically applied to cotton fibers for durable antibacterial and flame retardancy. Antimicrobial flame retardant structures were characterized by H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectra (NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR). FT-IR, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Thermogravimetric (TG), Vertical Flammability Test (VFT), and Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) were utilized to test and characterize the prepared cotton fibers.
