Protein secondary structures are important in many biological processes and applications. Due to advances in sequencing methods, there are many proteins sequenced, but fewer proteins with secondary structures defined by laboratory methods. With the development of computer technology, computational methods have (started to) become the most important methodologies for predicting secondary structures. We evaluated two different approaches to this problem-driven by the recent results obtained by computational methods in this task-(i) template-free classifiers, based on machine learning techniques; and (ii) template-based classifiers, based on searching tools. Both approaches are formed by different sub-classifiers-six for template-free and two for template-based, each with a specific view of the protein. Our results show that these ensembles improve the results of each approach individually.

Introduction: The enteric nervous system (ENS) in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract is complex and comprises many neurons, which are differentiated in terms of structure, function and neurochemistry. Neuregulin 1 (NRG 1) is one of the neuronal factors synthesised in the ENS about the distribution and functions of which relatively little is known. The present study is the first description of the distribution of NRG 1 in the ENS in various segments of the porcine small intestine.

Purpose Of Review: We describe the evolution of caval valve implantation (CAVI) as a treatment for severe symptomatic tricuspid regurgitation (TR) in the high surgical risk patient.
Recent Findings: Surgical treatment of severe TR is often limited by the high surgical risk of the patients who tend to develop severe secondary TR. Coaptation, annuloplasty, and orthotopic replacement strategies are all limited by annular and leaflet geometry, prior valve repair, and the presence of cardiac implantable device leads.

Context: Protein secondary structure prediction is essential for understanding protein function and characteristics and can also facilitate drug discovery. Traditional methods for experimentally determining protein structures are both time-consuming and costly. Computational biology offers a viable alternative by predicting protein structures from their sequences.

Background: Limited data exist on the impact of polyvascular disease (PolyVD) on clinical outcomes in female patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). We therefore sought to investigate clinical outcomes in women with versus without PolyVD undergoing TAVR.
Methods: Female participants from the multicentre Women's International Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (WIN-TAVI) registry were categorized based on the presence or absence of PolyVD.

While traditional assay methods face challenges in detecting specific proteins, aptamers, known for their high specificity and affinity, are emerging as a valuable biomarker detection tool. Aurora kinase A (AURKA) plays a role in cell division and influences stem cell reprogramming. In this study, an in silico approach method was conducted for a random ssDNA aptamer sequence selection and its binding with AURKA.
