Timely detection of harmful, poisonous and air pollutant gases is of vital importance to the protection of human beings from exposure to rigorous gases. The development of gas-sensing devices based on sphere-like porous SnO/ZIF-8 nanocomposites is required to overcome this challenge. Nanostructures with high surface area, more porosity and hollow interior provide plenty of active cites for high responses in metal oxide gas sensors. The engineered gas sensors have excellent sensing sensitivity (164), rapid response and recovery times (60, 45 s), and favorable selectivity for NO gases under 300 °C. Consequently, NO gas sensors based on core-shell SnO/ZIF-8 nanospheres are regarded viable capacity industrial applicants.

Visual, sensitive, and selective detection of carcinogenic substances is highly desired in portable health protection and practical medicine production. However, achieving this goal presents significant challenges with the traditional single-mode sensors reported so far, as they have limited sensing mechanisms and provide only a single output signal. Here, we report an effective optical and electrical dual-mode sensor for the visual, sensitive, and selective detection of -nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA), a typical volatile carcinogenic substance, leveraging the synergy of ionic liquid-doped liquid crystals (IL-LC).

Insight into human physiology is key to maintaining diver safety in underwater operational environments. Numerous hazardous physiological phenomena can occur during the descent, the time at depth, the ascent, and the hours after a dive that can have enduring consequences. While safety measures and strict adherence to dive protocols make these events uncommon, diving disorders still occur, often with insufficient understanding of the factors that triggered the event.

The transition from insulator to electro-responsive has been successfully achieved by earlier studies for some inorganic materials by applying external stimuli that modify their 3D and/or electronic structures. In the case of insulating polymers, this transition is frequently accomplished by mixing them with other electroactive materials, even though a few physical treatments that induce suitable chemical modifications have also been reported. In this work, a smart approach based on the application of an electro-thermal reorientation process followed by a charged gas activation treatment has been developed for transforming insulating 3D printed polymers into electro-responsive materials.

Objective: The aim of the study is to verify whether the electronic nose system - an array of 17 gas sensors with a signal analysis system - is a useful tool for the classification and preliminary assessment of the quality of drainage water.

Material And Methods: Water samples for analysis were collected in the Park Ludowy (People's Park), located next to the Bystrzyca River, near the city center of Lublin in eastern Poland. Drainage water was sampled at 4 different points.

Nitrogen dioxide (NO) is an important contaminant that poses a severe threat to environmental sustainability. Traditional inorganic NO gas detectors are generally used under harsh operating conditions and employ environmentally unfriendly resources, thus preventing widespread practical applications. Herein, self-assembled peptide microtubes (SPMTs) are combined with SnO nanoparticles (NPs) to develop a bioinspired NO gas sensor.
