This is the first attempt to simultaneously apply an improved three-dimensional ecological (EF) model and multivariate spatial-temporal collaborative relation model for evaluating the inter-regional ecological sustainability. Capital flow consumption and capital stock depletion can be tracked based on identification of variations in ecological footprint size (EF) and depth (EF). Results display an unsustainable natural capital stock utilization in Chengyu urban agglomeration, especially in Neijiang, Chengdu, and Deyang with EF higher than 35. There exists an obvious regional complementarity between EF and EF, where cities with rich resources (or poor resources) are generally characterized as high EF and low EF (or low EF and high EF). The EF is slightly lower than traditional ecological footprint in value owing to its more concerns of intergenerational fairness and intrageneration fairness. Moreover, the spatial-temporal binary collaborative relation among EF, EF, and GDP is generally higher than 0.6 with a medium level. Their temporal multivariate collaborative relation mostly lies in the intervals [0.30, 0.50] with an annual change rate of 10.22%, while slight variations exist in their spatial multivariate collaborative relation. GDP has a significant impact on the temporal collaborative relation of EF and EF in Dazhou, Leshan, Luzhou, Mianyang, and Nanchong. There are slight impacts of EF on the temporal collaborative relation of EF and GDP; meanwhile, GDP has a less effect on the spatial collaborative relation of EF and EF. Findings can provide a reference for the coordinated development of social economy and ecological environment.

Thermally Stimulated Spin Switching Accelerates Water Electrolysis.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Collaborative Innovation Center of Advanced Microstructures, National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nanjing University, No. 22 Hankou Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210093, People's Republic of China.

Water electrolysis suffers from electron transfer barriers during oxygen evolution reactions, which are spin-related for magnetic materials. Here, the electron transfer at the Fe_{64}Ni_{36}-FeNiO_{x}H_{y} interface is effectively accelerated when the electrode is heated to trigger the Invar effect in Fe_{64}Ni_{36} Invar alloy, providing more unoccupied orbitals as electron transfer channels without pairing energy. As a result of thermally stimulated changes in electronic states, Fe_{64}Ni_{36}/FeNiO_{x}H_{y} achieved a cascaded oxidation of the catalytic center and water.

In Spain, the agricultural sector relies heavily on migrant workers, especially during seasonal seasons. However, these workers face significant challenges related to precarious working conditions and structural vulnerability, which have become more acute since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This descriptive qualitative study was based on 87 personal interviews with health and social professionals from sectors such as NGOs, social services, trade unions, local institutions, and health services to promote compliance with these measures in four Spanish regions.

NIST Mass Spectral Libraries in the Context of the Circular Economy of Plastics.

J Am Soc Mass Spectrom

January 2025

Mass Spectrometry Data Center, Biomolecular Measurement Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, Maryland, 20899, United States.

The Mass Spectrometry Data Center (MSDC) has recently started improving existing libraries and creating new ones for identifying and analyzing plastics-related compounds (PRC) and materials (PRM) as part of the NIST circular economy program. PRC are small molecules of dissimilar chemical nature; hence, to increase coverage, we have used three types of ionizations: EI, ESI, and APCI. PRM are solids that include polymers, polymer mixtures, and commercial plastics, so we have used pyrolysis-gas chromatography (py-GC-MS) to create a new searchable library.

Introduction: Ethiopia has made notable progress in reducing maternal and perinatal mortality, yet challenges remain in meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Persistent issues such as low service utilization, coupled with poor quality, fragmented care, and ineffective referral systems hinder progress. The "Improve Primary Health Care Service Delivery (IPHCSD)" project, implemented by JSI and Amref Health Africa since April 2022, seeks to address these gaps through a Networks of Care (NoCs) approach.

Background: Digital technologies play an important role in improving the quality of healthcare services, however, many healthcare workers and students do not recognize this and have low levels of digital competencies and skills. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate digital perceptions and competencies among medical students in pediatrics and pediatric healthcare workers in China.

Methods: A questionnaire on digital competency was designed.
