The immense impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health systems has motivated the scientific community to search for clinical prognostic factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection. Low cycle threshold values (Ct) of diagnostic real-time RT-PCR assays in hospitalized patients have been associated with a poor prognosis in several studies, whereas other studies did not find this association. We explored whether SARS-CoV-2 Ct values at diagnosis were associated with a poor outcome (admission to hospital and death) in 604 community patients diagnosed at primary health centers. Although lower Ct values were found in patients who died of COVID-19, the Ct value was not significantly associated with a worse outcome in a multivariate analysis, while age remained an independent prognostic factor. We did not find evidence to support the role of Ct values as a prognostic factor of COVID-19 in community cases.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected more than two million people of the world, and far social distancing and segregated lifestyle have to be adopted as a common solution in recent years. To solve the problem of sanitation control and epidemic prevention in public places, in this paper, an intelligent disinfection control system based on the STM32 single-chip microprocessor was designed to realize intelligent closed-loop disinfection in local public places such as public toilets. The proposed system comprises seven modules: image acquisition, spraying control, disinfectant liquid level control, access control, voice broadcast, system display, and data storage.

Introduction: Detrusor contractions can be classified as either volitional or involuntary. The latter are a hallmark of urge urinary incontinence. Understanding differences in neuroactivation associated with both types of contractions can help elucidate pathophysiology and therapeutic targets.

Background: Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an acute or subacute, highly contagious, and economically important, transboundary disease of small ruminants caused by Peste des petits ruminants virus (PPRV).

Objectives: The objective of this study was to determine the seroconversion rate in PPR vaccinated flock of sheep (Sekela district) and the seroprevalence of PPRV in unvaccinated flocks of sheep and goats (Yilmanadensa district).

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to March 2022 in two selected districts of West Gojjam zone, Ethiopia.

The accurate quantification of nuclear factor Kappa B p65 (NF-κB p65) is critical for understanding inflammatory mechanisms, especially in HIV-1 infected individuals, where NF-κB p65 contributes to chronic immune activation. Conventional methods such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and western blotting are limited in terms of sensitivity and reproducibility. This study aimed to devise a standardized real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay for NF-κB p65 using specifically designed primers and a probe.
