Conventional cyclometalation of calix[4]arene bis(aryltriazoles) with iridium(III) chloride hydrate leads to unique architectures in which the IrCl core is cross-bound by two (C^N) ligands, which allows further replacement of the chloride bridges with ancillary ligands while maintaining the dinuclear structures of the complexes having independent or coupled iridium pairs.

The intake of excessive ethanol will activate an alternative ethanol metabolic pathway in the liver, resulting in the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which further leads to alcoholic liver injury (ALI). Although several molecular antioxidants have been utilized in clinics for treating ALI, their efficacies are still less satisfactory. In this work, a nanocatalytic antioxidation therapeutic strategy is proposed for ALI treatment by constructing amorphous Co(OH) nanosheets with catalytic antioxidative property.

Glycidic esters represent pivotal constituents in synthetic chemistry, offering enhanced versatility for tailoring toward a diverse array of molecular targets in comparison with simple epoxides. While considerable progress has been made in the asymmetric synthesis of - and trisubstituted glycidic esters, achieving enantioselective preparation of -glycidic esters has remained a long-standing challenge. Here, we demonstrate a selectivity-predictable modular platform for the asymmetric synthesis of -glycidic esters via a novel dinuclear (salen)titanium(III)-catalyzed radical-type kinetic resolution (KR) approach.

The first chiral and luminescent cyclic trinuclear gold(I) complex, [{AuCH(PPhMe)(PhP)}], has been isolated with metalated phosphorus ylides (PY). This complex was initially obtained through the reaction of either mononuclear [CFSAuCH(PPhMe)(PhP)]OTf or dinuclear [CFS{AuCH(PPhMe)(PhP)}](OTf) thiolate-gold-phosphane complexes in the presence of NaH, followed by the abstraction of the thiopyridine moiety employing either AgOTf or [Cu(CHCN)]PF. Our quest for a more efficient synthesis route led to the development of a streamlined one-pot synthesis method, employing Ag(acac) as both a halogen abstractor and a base, offering a quicker and more direct path to this intriguing trimer.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has emerged as an efficient and noninvasive treatment approach utilizing laser-triggered photosensitizers for combating cancer. Within this rapidly advancing field, iridium-based photosensitizers with their dual functionality as both imaging probes and PDT agents exhibit a potential for precise and targeted therapeutic interventions. However, most reported classes of Ir(III)-based photosensitizers comprise mononuclear iridium(III), with very few examples of dinuclear systems.

Dynamic covalent chemistry (DCvC) is a powerful and widely applied tool in modern synthetic chemistry, which is based on the reversible cleavage and formation of covalent bonds. One of the inherent strengths of this approach is the perspective to reversibly generate in an operationally simple approach novel structural motifs that are difficult or impossible to access with more traditional methods and require multiple bond cleaving and bond forming steps. To date, these fundamentally important synthetic and conceptual challenges in the context of DCvC have predominantly been tackled by exploiting compounds of lighter p-block elements, even though heavier p-block elements show low bond dissociation energies and appear to be ideally suited for this approach.
