Objective: To characterize the clinical-epidemiological profile of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children temporally associated with COVID-19 (MIS-C), and to identify factors associated with MIS-C deaths in Brazil, 2020.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, using national MIS-C monitoring data. Logistical regression was performed to estimate crude and adjusted odds ratios (OR).
Results: Median case (n=652) age was 5 years, 57.1% were male, 52.0% were of brown race/skin color and 6.4% died. Likelihood of death was greater among those who presented O2 saturation <95% (ORa=4.35 - 95%CI 1.69;11.20) and altered urea results (ORa=5.18 - 95%CI 1.91;14.04); likelihood of death was lower when red skin blotches were not present (ORa=0.23 - 95%CI 0.09;0.62), when anticoagulants were used (ORa=0.32 - 95%CI 0.12;0.89) and when immunoglobulins were used (ORa=0.38 - 95%CI 0.15;1.01).
Conclusion: Fatality ratios were higher among cases that presented O2 saturation <95% and altered urea results. Fatality ratios were lower among those with red skin blotches, and those who used immunoglobulins and anticoagulants.

Background/aim: Differentiating multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) from adenovirus infection (AI) can be challenging due to similar clinical and laboratory findings. This study aimed to identify distinguishing characteristics and develop a scoring system to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
Materials And Methods: A comprehensive review of medical records was undertaken for 108 MIS-C patients and 259 patients with confirmed AI.

Purpose: To evaluate retinal vascular changes by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C).
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 21 patients who were diagnosed with MIS-C and had a history of hospitalization, 20 pediatric outpatients with a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) diagnosis, and 26 healthy children. All patients underwent a detailed ophthalmologic examination and OCTA.

IgG-4 related disease (IgG4-RD) is an under recognised multisystem inflammatory disorder that has several typical manifestations. Cardiac manifestations of IgG4-RD are well documented however do not feature in the definition or diagnosis of IgG4-RD according to a recent consensus statement. The most well recognised cardiac manifestation of IgG4-RD, pericardial disease, is outlined in this case report as the initial presenting pathology.

There is a new awareness of the widespread nature of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its connection to cardiovascular disease (CVD). This has catalyzed collaboration between cardiologists, hepatologists, endocrinologists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to address the need for earlier identification of those with MASLD who are at increased risk for CVD. The overlap in the pathophysiologic processes and parallel prevalence of CVD, metabolic syndrome, and MASLD highlight the multisystem consequences of poor cardiovascular-liver-metabolic health.

Importance: There is growing understanding that Social Determinants of Health (SDH) impact on the outcomes of different pediatric conditions. We aimed to determine whether SDH affect the severity of MIS-C.
Design: Retrospective cohort study, 2021-2023.
