An ATX-LPA-Gα-ROCK axis shapes and maintains caudal vein plexus in zebrafish.

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a potential regulator of vascular formation derived from blood. In this study, we utilized zebrafish as a model organism to monitor the blood vessel formation in detail. Zebrafish mutant of ATX, an LPA-producing enzyme, had a defect in the caudal vein plexus (CVP). Pharmacological inhibition of ATX resulted in a fusion of the delicate vessels in the CVP to form large sac-like vessels. Mutant embryos of LPA receptor and downstream Gα showed the same phenotype. Administration of OMPT, a stable LPA-analog, induced rapid CVP constriction, which was attenuated significantly in the LPA mutant. We also found that blood flow-induced CVP formation was dependent on ATX. The present study demonstrated that the ATX-LPA axis acts cooperatively with blood flow and contributes to the formation and maintenance of the CVP by generating contractive force in endothelial cells.

The mechanism of Hespintor (a protein of serpin family) inhibitory action on the growth of inoculated hepatocellular carcinoma was studied in a model of human hepatoma in nude mice by using on long-noncoding RNA (lncRNA) sequencing. Two days after tumor transplantation, Hespintor or normal saline was injected into the caudal vein at a dose of 15 μg/kg (2 times a week over 4 weeks). The tumors were isolated in 4 weeks after subcutaneous injection of human hepatoma MHCC97-H cells.

Chest ports are typically inserted via the right internal jugular vein with the left side being utilized in certain patient populations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dynamic position of the chest port and catheter tip, comparing a demographically matched cohort of female breast cancer patients with right- or left-sided chest ports. 142 female patients with breast cancer requiring chest port insertion for chemotherapy and imaging confirming catheter tip position initially with supine fluoroscopy and follow-up with erect chest radiography over a 5-year period were identified.
