Onabotulinum Toxin A-Led Urinary Tract Infections-Should we Safeguard? A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Int Urogynecol J

January 2025

Department of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Atlantic Health System, 435 South Street, Suite 370, Morristown, NJ, 07960, USA.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The objective of our study was to evaluate the need for antibiotic prophylaxis for urinary tract infection (UTI) prevention before Onabotulinum toxin A injection for overactive bladder (OAB). We hypothesize that the lack of antibiotic prophylaxis might not be inferior to administering prophylaxis.

Methods: This was a multi-centered, nonblinded, randomized controlled trial conducted between August 2022 and September 2024.

Bone defects caused by trauma, infection, or tumors present a major clinical challenge. Titanium (Ti) implants are widely used due to their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility; however, their high elastic modulus, low surface bioactivity, and susceptibility to infection hinder osseointegration and increase failure rates. There is an increasing demand for implants that can resist bacterial infection while promoting osseointegration.

Effect of photobiological regulation of green laser on orthodontic tooth retention in rats.

Lasers Med Sci

January 2025

Shanxi Medical University School and Hospital of Stomatology, Shanxi Bethune Hospital, Taiyuan, Shanxi, China.

Green lasers have a stronger effect on promoting osteoblast differentiation, which is critical for orthodontic tooth retention. This study investigated the impact of green laser photobiomodulation on orthodontic tooth retention in rats. A total of 100 male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two groups: Group A (control) and Group B (green laser irradiation).

Pulsed electromagnetic field prevents tooth relapse after orthodontic tooth movement in rat models.

J Taibah Univ Med Sci

February 2025

Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, East Java, Indonesia.

Objective: Relapse after orthodontic treatment remains a crucial problem. Pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) accelerate osteoblastogenesis and inhibit osteoclastogenesis. However, their effect on tooth movement during the retention phase of orthodontic treatment has not been studied.
