A hydrophilic metal-organic network based on Ti and dual natural ligand, tannic acid (TA) and phytic acid (PA), has been developed to enrich phosphopeptides from complex bio-samples prior to liquid chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis. Due to the strong chelation ability of TA and PA, abundant Ti can be immobilized in the material, forming hydrophilic network by one-step coordination-driven self-assembly approach. The sorbent, TA-Ti-PA@FeO, exhibited satisfactory selectivity for the phosphopeptides in the tryptic digest of β-casein, and can eliminate the interference components in 1000-fold excess of bovine serum albumin. The adsorption capacity of the sorbents for phosphopeptides was up to 35.2 mg g and the adsorbing equilibrium can be reached in 5 min. The adsorbing mechanism has been investigated and the results indicated that the Ti in forms of [Ti(f-TA)(HO)], [Ti(f-PA)(HO)] and Ti(f-PA)(HO) may play an important role in the adsorption process. The sorbent of the TA-Ti-PA@FeO has been applied to enrichment of the phosphopeptides in tryptic digest of rat liver lysate, and 3408 phosphopeptides have been identified, while the numbers of the identified phosphopeptides were 2730 and 1217 when the sample was enriched by the commercial TiO and Fe-IMAC kit, respectively. This work provides a strategy to enrich phosphopeptides from complex samples and shows great potential application in phosphoproteome research.

Progress and Prospects of Polymer/One-Dimensional Nanoclay Superabsorbent Composites.

Superabsorbent materials (SAMs), featuring a three-dimensional (3D) hydrophilic polymer network, can absorb and retain water up to thousands of times their own weight, even under pressure. This makes them indispensable in various fields, including hygiene products and agriculture. The water absorption capacity of SAMs is influenced by the presence of hydrophilic groups and a swellable network structure.

The large-scale use of nonrenewable plastic mulch has resulted in serious agricultural health pollution. Biobased plastic materials with degradable properties offer attractive sustainable alternatives, but the shortcomings of their properties are slow degradation and extremely monofunctional, making their full-scale promotion still challenging. This work proposes a novel functionalized strategy for the multifunctionality empowerment of bio-based PLA materials for environmental protection and crop yield enhancement.

Creating artificial cells with a dynamic cytoskeleton, akin to those in living cells, is a major goal in bottom-up synthetic biology. In this study, we demonstrate the in situ polymerization of microtubules encapsulated in giant polymer-lipid hybrid vesicles (GHVs) composed of 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and an amphiphilic block copolymer. The block copolymer is comprised of poly(cholesteryl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) as the hydrophobic block and either poly(6-O-methacryloyl-D-galactopyranose) or poly(carboxyethyl acrylate) as the hydrophilic extension.

Interfacial solar vapor generation (ISVG) technology has been considered a promising and sustainable strategy for seawater desalination and wastewater treatment. However, its practical application is greatly limited due to severe salt accumulation and poor long-term evaporation stability. Herein, an all-cellulose-based wicking fabric (CB@CA/CF) is fabricated via a breath figure template (BFT) method for high-performance and stable desalination.

Electronic address:

The high moisture content and low oil levels in the bigels easily led to oil-water separation. The stability of bigels prepared from 30 % beeswax sunflower oleogel and 70 % gelatin hydrogel was evaluated using a two-step cold-set synergistic continuous dispersion method. Both the oleogel and hydrogel had formed a gel system, respectively, at low temperature prior to the preparation of bigels.
