Scientific studies have signified the importance of trochlear resection on the knee extensor mechanism, and dysplasia can be addressed by a groove-deepening trochleoplasty. Alternatively, tibial tubercle anteriorisation has been proposed to reduce patellofemoral joint (PFJ) pressure and alleviate pain from osteoarthritis.
