The co-contamination with cadmium (Cd) and arsenic (As) in the paddy soil is the most seriously combined pollution of toxic elements in China, and it is rather difficult to decrease bioavailable Cd and As levels in soil because of the opposite ionic forms of bioavailable Cd (cation) and As (anion). This study explored the optimal conditions of Eh and pH in different soils for simultaneous decrease of Cd and As bioavailabilities in the soil-rice system through soil culture and rice pot experiments under water management strategies. The results showed that near neutral soil pH (7.0) were eventually observed under long-term flooding conditions. Under unflooded conditions, soil pH is the dominant factor influencing bioavailabilities of Cd and As, while under flooded conditions, Eh becomes the most important factor. Pot experiments showed that flooding significantly reduced the Cd concentration in rice grains from 54.5% to 95.5%, but concomitantly increased rice As concentration substantially (214%-302%). By evaluating the trade-off value between the bioavailabilities of Cd and As in the soil, the minimal trade-off value was obtained when the soil Eh was -130 mV and the pH was 6.8.

Unlabelled: Collecting data and logging behaviors of clients who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) during applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy sessions can be challenging in real time, especially when the behaviors require a rapid response, like self-injury or aggression. Little information is available about the automation of data collection in ABA therapy, such as through machine learning (ML). Our survey of ABA therapists nationally revealed mixed levels of familiarity with ML and generally neutral responses to statements endorsing the benefits of ML.

This paper is devoted to the investigation of the plasmonic effect of metal nanoparticles (NPs) formed on the surface of the YAG: Bi, Ce, Yb phosphors in a temperature range between 4 and 300 K. Combination of a thin conversion layer with silver plasmonic nanostructures leads to increase of sensitizer absorption and emission efficiency. Enhancement of Bi luminescence in YAG epitaxial films with Ag NPs was observed upon cooling the samples below 200 K.

Background: Viral epidemics have long endangered human health and had dramatic impacts on environment and society. The currently known viruses and the rapid emergence of previously unknown viruses lead to an urgent need for effective virus detection strategies. It is important to develop methods that can detect multiple related viruses simultaneously in order to improve detection efficiency and to avoid treatment delays due to misdiagnoses.

Objective: Currently, nasolabial folds are mainly removed by invasive procedures, resulting in long-lasting changes, as non-surgical user-implementable alternatives are scarce and inefficient. For example, the use of coating films for this purpose has thus far faced substantial difficulties because such films should combine the antithetical properties of shrinkability and flexibility. Herein, we challenge this status quo by identifying a polymer that simultaneously exhibits shrinkability and flexibility and using this polymer to develop a cosmetic formulation for immediate and non-invasive nasolabial fold removal.

Subluxation or dislocation of the second metatarsophalangeal joint may be commonly associated with crossover toe, metatarsalgia, and painful calluses. This retrospective study aims to evaluate the clinical and functional results in patients with irreducible second metatarsophalangeal joint dislocation treated by double percutaneous osteotomy in one step: Haspell's osteotomy and Distal Metatarsal Mini-Invasive Osteotomy. A total of 39 patients were included in this study.
