The low durability of bioprosthetic heart valves (BHV), between 10-15 years, is associated with the development of leaflets flutter. Despite increasing calcification and structural damage of the BHV, leaflets flutter is an understudied condition. Therefore, the objective of this study is compare the oscillation characteristics of BHV leaflets obtained by the finite element method (FEM) technique and by the fluid-structural interaction (FSI) technique.

The Ross procedure continues to be the best procedure to address unrepairable aortic valve pathology, especially in young adults. The Achilles heel of this procedure has been aortic root dilation and the potential need for a reoperation that may be associated with slightly increased risks in addition to the need for intervention on the pulmonary outflow tract. Modifying the Ross procedure by autograft inclusion inside a Dacron graft seems to have the potential advantage of stabilizing the autograft diameter, which may be associated with improved durability and decrease the need for future intervention.

Background: The long-term valve durability of supra-annular self-expanding valves (SEV) and intra-annular balloon-expandable valves (BEV) in patients with small aortic annuli remains unexplored.
Aims: This study aimed to determine the long-term bioprosthetic valve durability with SEV versus BEV in patients with small aortic annuli.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) and an aortic annulus area of 430 mm or less who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement using SEV and BEV between October 2009 and December 2022.

Background: The effect of anticoagulation on early postoperative outcomes following pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) with bioprosthetic valves and homografts is not yet defined. We hypothesized that short-term anticoagulation would be associated with improved valve durability.
Methods: Patients undergoing PVR or right ventricle-pulmonary artery conduits with a bioprosthetic or homograft valve >15 mm in diameter between 1/2015 and 4/2021 at Boston Children's Hospital were retrospectively compared by anticoagulation status.

Background: Reports on the durability of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) prostheses are scarce and confounded by varying definitions and competing risks of death.
Objectives: The authors sought to determine the incidence, predictors, and clinical outcomes of hemodynamic valve deterioration (HVD) according to the Valve Academic Research Consortium 3 definition after TAVR.
Methods: We analyzed consecutive patients undergoing TAVR in the prospective Bern TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) registry between August 2007 and June 2022 for the incidence and predictors of HVD and performed case control-matching to compare outcomes according to HVD.
