In this Note, we describe a test rig for optimizing the trapping parameters of optical trap displays. This rig allows targeted experimentation on software, hardware, and environmental variables. These variables affect the success and robustness of particle trapping. We demonstrate the operation of the rig in a handful of example experiments while achieving an average standard error of less than 1% and an accuracy of over 98% at a reduced size, user overhead, and cost, allowing for rapid development of optical trap display research.

In this paper, Gd-doped ZrO gate dielectric films and metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) capacitors structured as Al/ZrGdO /Si were prepared using an ultraviolet ozone (UVO)-assisted sol-gel method. The effects of heat treatment temperature on the microstructure, chemical bonding state, optical properties, surface morphology and electrical characteristics of the ZrGdO composite films and MOS capacitors were systematically investigated. The crystalline phase of the ZrGdO films appeared only at 600 °C, indicating that Gd doping effectively inhibits the crystallization of ZrO films.

Quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) mixed-halide perovskites are a requisite for their applications in highly efficient blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) owing to their strong quantum confinement effect and high exciton binding energy. The pace of quasi-2D blue PeLEDs is hindered primarily by two factors: challenges in precisely managing the phase distribution and defect-mediated nonradiative recombination losses. Herein, we utilize 2,2-diphenylethylamine (DPEA) with bulky steric hindrance to disturb the assembly process of a slender spacer host cation, 4-fluorophenylethylammonium (-F-PEA), enhancing phase distribution management in quasi-2D PeLEDs.

Developing the Cd-free electron transport layer (ETL) is a crucial subject in the field of antimony selenide (SbSe) solar cells. At present, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the Cd-free SbSe solar cell is still substantially lower than that of CdS-based devices. It is significant to reveal the electron transfer features in SbSe/CdS heterojunction and SbSe/Cd-free ETL heterojunction for development of a Cd-free SbSe solar cell with high PCE.

Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is an important glycoprotein of the human innate immune system. Furthermore, individuals with sickle cell anemia (SCA) and MBL deficiency seem more susceptible to vaso-occlusive crises, suggesting an MBL role on HbSS red blood cells (RBCs). This study investigated the interaction of MBL with HbA (healthy) and HbSS RBCs using optical tweezers (OT) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

The trimeric intracellular cation channel B (TRIC-B), encoded by TMEM38B, is a potassium (K) channel present in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, where it counterbalances calcium (Ca) exit. Lack of TRIC-B activity causes a recessive form of the skeletal disease osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), namely OI type XIV, characterized by impaired intracellular Ca flux and defects in osteoblast (OB) differentiation and activity. Taking advantage of the OB-specific Tmem38b knockout mouse (Runx2Cre;Tmem38b; cKO), we investigated how the ion imbalance affects the osteogenetic process.
