Perfluoro-tert-butylation reaction has long remained a challenging task. We now report the use of 1,1-dibromo-2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)ethylene (DBBF) as a practical reagent for perfluoro-tert-butylation reactions for the first time. Through a consecutive triple-fluorination process with DBBF and CsF, the (CF ) C species can be liberated and observed, which is able to serve as a robust nucleophilic perfluoro-tert-butylating agent for various electrophiles. The power of this synthetic protocol is evidenced by the efficient synthesis of structurally diverse perfluoro-tert-butylated molecules. Multiple applications demonstrate the practicability of this method, as well as the superiority of perfluoro-tert-butylated compounds as sensitive probes. The perfluoro-tert-butylated product was successfully applied in H- and F-magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) experiment with an ultra-low field (ULF) MRI system.

The development of haemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC) is an excellent supplement to pre-hospital emergency blood transfusions. In this study, a new type of HBOC was prepared by using human cord haemoglobin (HCHb) and glutaraldehyde (GDA) and Bis(3,5-dibromosalicyl) fumarate (DBBF) to modify (DBBF-GDA-HCHb), the changes of physicochemical indexes during its preparation were evaluated, while a traditional type of GDA-HCHb was prepared, and the oxygen-carrying capacity of two type of HBOC was evaluated by a rat model of 135.0% exchange transfusion (ET).

In the present study, soymilk samples were prepared from 15 soybean varieties by employing dry method-raw slurry filtration (D-BAF), dry method-cooked slurry filtration (D-BBF), wet method-raw slurry filtration (W-BAF), and wet method-cooked slurry filtration (W-BBF). Different varieties of soybean and processing techniques were found to impose a significant impact on total phenolics, total flavonoids, phenolic acids, isoflavones and antioxidant capacity of soymilk samples. Overall, the soymilk prepared by W-BAF exhibited a higher level of total phenolic content and antioxidant activity.

1,3-Diphenylisobenzofuran (DPBF) has been developed as a selective probe for the detection and quantitative determination of hydrogen peroxide in samples containing different reactive nitrogen and oxygen species (RNOS). DPBF is a fluorescent probe which, for almost 20 years, was believed to react in a highly specific manner toward some reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as singlet oxygen and hydroxy, alkyloxy or alkylperoxy radicals. Under the action of these individuals DPBF has been rapidly transformed to 1,2-dibenzoylbenzene (DBB).
