Objective: This study investigated symptom change trajectory for patients with persistent somatic symptoms (PSS) during psychotherapy and the association of these patterns with pre-treatment characteristics and long-term outcome.
Methods: Growth mixture modeling was used to identify trajectory curves in a sample of = 210 outpatients diagnosed with PSS and treated either with conventional cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or CBT enriched with emotion regulation training (ENCERT).
Results: We identified three subgroups of patients with similar symptom change patterns over the course of treatment (a "no change," "strong response," and "slow change" subgroup). Higher initial anxiety symptoms were significantly associated with the no change and strong response subgroups; symptom-related disability in daily routine with no changes. Patients with a strong response had the highest proportion of reliable improvement at termination and at six-month-follow-up.
Conclusion: Our results indicate that, instead of one common change pattern, patients with PSS respond differently to treatment. Due to the high association of symptom curves with long-term outcome, the identification and prediction of an individual's trajectory could provide important information for clinicians to identify non-responding patients that are at risk for failure. Selecting personalized treatment interventions could increase the effectiveness of psychotherapy. ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT01908855..

Background: Heart failure (HF) is one of the most common causes of hospital readmission in the United States. These hospitalizations are often driven by insufficient self-care. Commercial mobile health (mHealth) technologies, such as consumer-grade apps and wearable devices, offer opportunities for improving HF self-care, but their efficacy remains largely underexplored.

Background: Zoledronate prevents fractures in older women when administered every 12 to 18 months, but its effects on bone density and bone turnover persist beyond 5 years. Whether infrequent zoledronate administration would prevent vertebral fractures in early postmenopausal women is unknown.
Methods: We conducted a 10-year, prospective, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial involving early postmenopausal women (50 to 60 years of age) with bone mineral density T scores lower than 0 and higher than -2.

Introduction: It is known that the stability of the results obtained with orthodontic treatment depends, in addition to the functional and aesthetic aspects, also on the adequate planning of the retention devices, the patient's compliance with this new phase, and the physiological changes that the human body experiences over the years, throughout the craniofacial aging process.
Objective: This article discusses the importance of the orthodontic retention phase and the influence of diagnosis, planning and execution of corrective treatment of malocclusions, in order to achieve the expected success.
Methods: Throughout the text, different types of retainers and approaches during this phase will be presented, with the aim of ensuring the stability of the results obtained after correcting problems in the vertical, transverse and anteroposterior directions.

By analysing texture parameters, it becomes possible to characterize and differentiate various tissues, based on their textural properties according to cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). This study evaluated degenerative diseases in the temporomandibular joint through texture analysis.
