In this study, clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum) were subjected to ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) with ethanol as the solvent, following a central composite design to evaluate the effects of time, amplitude, solvent/sample ratio, and temperature on the yield, eugenol content, and antioxidant capacity of the extracts. The results were compared with those obtained using the conventional method of maceration (ME). The optimum conditions for extract yield were achieved with an extraction time of 25 min, amplitude of 85%, solvent/sample ratio of 35 mL g, and temperature of 70 °C, and the result (14.63 wt%) was three times higher than that of conventional extraction. Eugenol was detected in the extracts obtained by both methods, with the highest yield of 2.94 g eugenol kg leavesobtained in the UAE method, while the ME method achieved 1.36 g eugenol kg leaves. In general, the extracts exhibited high antioxidant capacities.

Rainbow trout () is a freshwater fish susceptible to chemical and microbial spoilage, limiting its shelf life. This study aimed to enhance and extend the rainbow trout fillets' shelf life stored at 4°C ± 1°C through an immersion treatment using ultrasound-assisted, defatted pine nut ( Wallich) extracts at concentrations of 1% and 2% (w/v), compared to the control group (0% pine nut). Evaluations were conducted at storage intervals of 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 days.

Agarwood essential oil is prized for its elegant aroma and pharmacological properties; however, the traditional hydrodistillation method suffers from inefficiencies, constraining the industrial potential of agarwood. We proposed an ultrasonic-assisted laccase synergistic pretreatment technique that enhanced extraction throughput by 70.90 % compared to the traditional method by facilitating pore formation in agarwood and expediting the release of essential oil.

Blue food processing applies to the production and processing of fish, algae, and other aquatic organisms for human consumption. As the global population grows and consumer demand for protein-rich foods increases, there is increased interest in exploring a wide range of innovative approaches for processing blue foods in ways that improve the efficiency, sustainability, and nutritional quality of these products and reduce the environmental impact of their production. Existing approaches to process blue foods including fishing and aquaculture for production and manual processing at landing are not sufficiently scalable, efficient, or environmentally sustainable for today's global needs.

Background: Curcuminoids, the bioactive compounds found in turmeric, exhibit potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties. This study aims to enhance the extraction of curcuminoids from turmeric using environmentally friendly solvents supercritical CO (scCO) combined with natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) in one process, and to evaluate the resulting biological activity.
Methods: A Box-Behnken statistical design was applied to optimize scCO extraction conditions-pressure, CO volume, and temperature-to maximize curcuminoid yield.
