Identifying Mixtures of Isomeric Human Milk Oligosaccharides by the Decomposition of IR Spectral Fingerprints.

The analysis of glycans presents a significant challenge that arises from their isomeric heterogeneity. While high-resolution ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has shown the ability to resolve subtly different glycan isomers, their unambiguous assignment remains difficult. Here, we demonstrate an infrared (IR) spectroscopic approach for identifying isomers in a glycan mixture. To display the feasibility of this approach, we have constructed a small database of cryogenic spectra of five lacto--fucopentaose (LNFP) and six disaccharide isomers and demonstrated that in the cases where they cannot be separated by IMS, we can use a cryogenic IR spectrum to identify the isomeric components of a mixture.

This study investigates the use of recombinant peptidases (EC 3.4) to improve protein hydrolysis and digestibility in , with a focus on addressing the challenge of reduced protein bioavailability for monogastric animals due to resistant protein-pigment formations, such as phycocyanin, and increased digesta viscosity caused by jellification properties. Exposure to individual metals has been inconsistently associated with adiposity. However, populations are exposed to more than one metal at a time, thus recent studies have been conducted to assess more comprehensively metal exposure through a mixture approach. To explore the association between Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist-Hip Ratio (WHIR) and Waist-Height Ratio (WHER) with urinary metal concentrations, using individual and mixture approaches, as well as identifying the most important metals within the mixtures, in women from Northern Mexico.
