Background: The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care 'National Standards' require general hospitals to have systems for clinicians to recognise and respond to patients' deteriorating mental state. The lack of an evidence-based operational definition and clear guidance challenges this requirement.

(GHA) a comfort care home focused on caring for terminally ill individuals who are unhoused, isolated, without caregivers, economically disadvantaged and face end of life alone. GHA is a free-standing home that provides safe housing, a nurturing environment, and round-the-clock personal care while local hospice agencies provide medical management.

Background: Bariatric surgery (BS) stands as a highly effective intervention for severe obesity; however, limited understanding exists regarding its short to medium-term complications. This study aimed to analyze short-medium term complications in patients undergoing BS in an Ecuadorian hospital.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study included 1132 patients who underwent BS between October 2021 and April 2022, specifically evaluating those with complications needing hospital readmission.
