Data on tree height and diameter of non-native (Jung. & de Vriese) and (Martinez) collected from Zambia's non-native forest plantations is presented here. A total of 1542 and 1883 pairs of height and diameter datasets for developing and testing the models are presented, respectively. During a five-year interval forest inventories, data collected supported the development of allometric relationships between height and diameter for the country's two species. Datasets are intended to be reused for various purposes to enhance the understanding of the tree height and diameter relationships of new and existing planted non-native species in Zambia. For detailed examples of the application of this data, see the article, "Stand characteristics and climate modulate height to diameter relationship in Pinus merkusii and P. michoacana in Zambia" Ng'andwe et al., 2021.

Novel Real-Time Fluoroscopic Assessment Method of Transcatheter Heart Valve Expansion Following Balloon-Expandable TAVR.

Circ Cardiovasc Interv

January 2025

Centre for Cardiovascular Innovation, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. (A.H., J.J., S.O., K.M., J.A.L., P.B., D.A.W., S.L.S., J.G.W., J.S.).

Background: Transcatheter heart valve (THV) underexpansion after transcatheter aortic valve replacement may be associated with worse outcomes. THV expansion can be assessed fluoroscopically using a pigtail for calibration; however, the accuracy of this technique specific to transcatheter aortic valve replacement is unknown. We assessed the accuracy and reproducibility of a novel fluoroscopic method to assess THV expansion using the THV commissural post for calibration.

Image dataset: UAV images and ground data of one 'Bingo' mandarin and two 'Valencia' orange rootstock trials conducted in Florida.

Data Brief

February 2025

Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory, 2001 South Rock Road, Ft. Pierce, FL, USA.

The data are aerial images and ground tree measurement data of 3 citrus rootstock trials. Developing new citrus rootstock varieties requires field trials to test to identify selections with improved horticultural performance. A bud from a scion variety is grafted onto the rootstock and grown in a nursery until the grafted plant is ready to be planted in the field, which is in about one year.

Growth and metabolic functions of Schizolobium amazonicum subjected to nickel doses.

January 2025

Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia - UFRA, Belém, PA, Brasil.

Anthropic activities such as industries, agriculture and mining has generated public concern for its numerous irregular disposals of its waste, the incorrect deposition of heavy metals such as nickel (Ni) has caused the degradation and contamination of groundwater and water. Studies that point out cheap and efficient solutions have been an obstacle to the advancement of solutions for degraded area recovery programs. For this, a vegetable home experiment was developed, with an entirely randomized design with 5 treatments being a control (no metal) and 4 nickel concentrations (200 μM/L; 400 μM/L; 600 μM/L and 800 μM/L) with 6 repetitions.

With the increasing height and rotor diameter of wind turbines, bat activity monitoring within the risk area becomes more challenging. This study investigates the impact of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) on bat activity and explores acoustic bat detection via UAS as a new data collection method in the vicinity of wind turbines. We tested two types of UAS, a multicopter and a Lighter Than Air (LTA) UAS, to understand how they may affect acoustically recorded and analyzed bat activity level for three echolocation groups: Pipistrelloid, Myotini, and Nyctaloid.

Objectives: This study evaluated different designs of the conical implant-abutment connection (IAC) and their resistance to microgap formation under oblique loads as specified by the ISO standard for testing dental implants. Also evaluated was the effect of deviations from the ISO specifications on the outcomes.

Methods: Finite element analysis was conducted to compare the microgap formation and stress distribution among three conical IAC designs (A, B, and C) in two loading configurations: one compliant with ISO 14801 and one with a modified load adaptor (non-ISO).
