Nonlinear effects in memristors with mobile vacancies.

Because local concentration of vacancies in any material is bounded, their motion must be accompanied by nonlinear effects. Here, we look for such effects in a simple model for electric field-driven vacancy motion in a memristor, solving the corresponding nonlinear Burgers' equation with impermeable nonlinear boundary conditions exactly. We find non-monotonous relaxation of the resistance while switching between the stable ('on' and 'off') states, and qualitatively different dependencies of switching time (under applied current) and relaxation time (under no current) on the memristor length. Our solution can serve as a useful benchmark for simulations of more complex memristor models.

Predicting the effects of climate change on plant disease is critical for protecting ecosystems and food production. Here, we show how disease pressure responds to short-term weather, historical climate and weather anomalies by compiling a global database (4339 plant-disease populations) of disease prevalence in both agricultural and wild plant systems. We hypothesised that weather and climate would play a larger role in disease in wild versus agricultural plant populations, which the results supported.

Currently, the study of cuproptosis focuses on the Cu-induced morphology changes in mitochondria (Mito), and the observation of the effect of endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-related Cu content on cuproptosis is relatively lacking. Herein, we have developed a hydroxyflavone (HF)-based NIR excited two-photon fluorescent probe, BHCO, that exhibits specific recognition of Cu with high resolution. BHCO-Cu (Cu2BC) can lead to DLAT protein aggregation, triggering cuproptosis.
