Hybrid methyl-ammonium (MA:CHNH) lead halide MAPbX (X = halogen) perovskites exhibit an attractive optoelectronic performance that can be applied to the next generation of solar cells. To extend the field of interest of these hybrid materials, we describe the synthesis by a solvent-free ball-milling procedure, yielding a well crystallized, pure and moisture stable specimen of the Cd tribromide counterpart, MACdBr, which contains chains of face-sharing CdBr octahedra in a framework defined in the 2 (No 36) space group. The details of the structural arrangement at 295 K have been investigated by high angular resolution synchrotron x-ray diffraction (SXRD), including the orientation of the organic MA units, which are roughly aligned along the c direction, given the acentric nature of the space group. UV-vis spectra unveil a gap of 4.6 eV, which could be useful for ultraviolet detectors.

Background: While recent randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that sublobar resection is non-inferior to lobectomy, the comparative efficacy of these procedures remains uncertain for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC; ≤ 3 cm) exhibiting invasive features postoperatively, such as visceral pleural invasion (VPI) or spread through air spaces (STAS).

Materials And Methods: To identify eligible studies, a comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science was conducted through 25 July 2024. Studies were screened according to predefined criteria in accordance with PRISMA guidelines.

Molecular dynamics simulation is an important tool in computational materials science and chemistry, and in the past decade it has been revolutionized by machine learning. This rapid progress in machine learning interatomic potentials has produced a number of new architectures in just the past few years. Particularly notable among these are the atomic cluster expansion, which unified many of the earlier ideas around atom-density-based descriptors, and Neural Equivariant Interatomic Potentials (NequIP), a message-passing neural network with equivariant features that exhibited state-of-the-art accuracy at the time.

Background: To accurately identify spread through air spaces (STAS) in clinical stage IA lung adenocarcinoma, our study developed a non-invasive and interpretable biomarker combining clinical and radiomics features using preoperative CT.

Methods: The study included a cohort of 1,325 lung adenocarcinoma patients from three centers, which was divided into four groups: a training cohort ( = 930), a testing cohort ( = 238), an external validation 1 cohort ( = 93), and 2 cohort ( = 64). We collected clinical characteristics and semantic features, and extracted radiomics features.

"Groupitizing": A Visuo-Spatial and Arithmetic Phenomenon.

Open Mind (Camb)

January 2025

Department of Neuroscience, Psychology, Pharmacology, and Child Health, University of Florence, Florence, Italy.

When objects are grouped in space, humans can estimate numerosity more precisely than when they are randomly scattered. This phenomenon, called groupitizing, is thought to arise from the interplay of two components: the subitizing system which identifies both the number of subgroups and of items within each group, and the possibility to perform basic arithmetic operations on the subitized groups. Here we directly investigate the relative role of these two components in groupitizing via an interference (dual task) paradigm.
