This literature review provides modern information on the unique structure of the vitreous body, its functions, and its role in the pathogenesis of glaucoma, describes the features of the vitreous morphology and metabolism, notes its biomechanical and trophic functions, outlines its role in healthy hydrodynamics and hemodynamics of the eye, as well as in aqueous humor outflow. The review presents clinical observations on the association of pathological changes in the vitreous body with glaucoma development and examines the role of involutional changes in the vitreous in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. The article also discusses possible pathogenetic mechanisms of glaucoma development in terms of pathological changes in the vitreous.

Background: One of the significant challenges that can arise during cataract surgery is the occurrence of posterior capsule rupture (PCR) and vitreous loss. It may result in different complications including cystoid macular edema, endophthalmitis, glaucoma, and considerably retinal detachment which consequently contributes to poor functional outcomes.
Methods: This study was a prospective double blinded randomized clinical trial including 42 patients with previous complicated cataract surgery including posterior capsular rupture and consequently vitreous loss that anterior vitrectomy was done for them.

Monitoring gestation and predicting parturition in mares with unknown breeding dates is challenging, especially in pasture bred herds of bucking horses. Transrectal ultrasonographic measurement of fetal vitreous body length is a validated predictor of foaling dates, but previous research suggested a need for breed-specific parameters to develop accurate indices for respective breeds. This study aimed to develop a scale associating fetal vitreous body length with days before parturition (DBP) in bucking horses.

Ultrasound biomicroscopy showed normal underlying sclera and ciliary body. Fundus examination of the left eye showed partly calcified vitreous seeds.

We present the case of a patient who came to the emergency department with a significant decrease in vision and dilated pupil in the left eye. Since neurological pathologies were primarily considered, diffusion brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and brain computed tomography (CT) were requested. After the results were reported as normal, we were consulted.

We examined relevant articles published from 1975 through 2022 that explored various properties of the muscle and related tissues in humans and rhesus monkeys. These properties include geometry, elasticity, rigidity, and composition, and were studied using a range of imaging technologies, computer models, and surgical methods.
