Legal requirements surrounding medical rehabilitation are firmly anchored in German social legislation: see Sozialgesetzbuch IX - Rehabilitation und Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderung (Social Law Book IX-Rehabilitation and Participation of Disabled People). Disabled people, and people threatened by disability, are thus legally eligible for rehab. Medical rehab staff must deal with many socio-medical questions during the whole rehabilitation process. This process requires detailed and sound knowledge of all the relevant legal requirements, definitions and terminology.

Background: The PalliPed project is a nationwide, observational, cross-sectional study designed with the aim of providing a constantly updated national database for the census and monitoring of specialized pediatric palliative care (PPC) activities in Italy. This paper presents the results of the first monitoring phase of the PalliPed project, which was developed through the PalliPed 2022-2023 study, to update current knowledge on the provision of specialized PPC services in Italy.

New psychoactive substances (NPSs) emerged in the 2000s as legal alternatives to illicit drugs and quickly became a huge public health threat due to their easy accessibility online, limited information, and misleading labels. Synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic cathinones are the most reported groups of NPSs. Despite NPSs being widely studied, due to their structural diversity and the constant emergence of novel compounds with unknown properties, the development of new techniques is required to clarify their mode of action and evaluate their toxicological effects.
