Although the highlands of East Africa lack the geo-ecological landmarks of Rift Valley fever (RVF) disease hotspots to participate in cyclic RVF epidemics, they have recently reported growing numbers of small RVF clusters. Here, we investigated whether RVF cycling occurred among livestock and humans in the central highlands of Kenya during inter-epidemic periods. A 2-year prospective hospital-based study among febrile patients (March 2022-February 2024) in Murang'a County of Kenya was followed by a cross-sectional human-animal survey.

(1) Background: Fetal chromosomal examination is a critical component of modern prenatal testing. Traditionally, maternal serum biomarkers such as free β-human chorionic gonadotropin (Free β-HCG) and pregnancy-associated plasma protein A (PAPPA) have been employed for screening, achieving a detection rate of approximately 90% for fetuses with Down syndrome, albeit with a false positive rate of 5%. While amniocentesis remains the gold standard for the prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal abnormalities, including Down syndrome and Edwards syndrome, its invasive nature carries a significant risk of complications, such as infection, preterm labor, or miscarriage, occurring at a rate of 7 per 1000 procedures.

: Computed tomography of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder (CT KUB) is essential for evaluating urinary stones but also exposes patients to significant radiation. The scanning field should be minimized to only the necessary area to limit this radiation exposure. This study aims to assess the extent of CT KUB overscanning in renal colic procedures and identify the appropriate vertebral level for starting CT KUB scans.

: the mandibular foramen is an essential anatomic landmark in performing various dental and surgical procedures, including inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB). However, its position may vary based on the individual morpho-functional features of the skull and face. This study aims to conduct a personalized assessment of the location of the mandibular foramen in various shapes of skulls, faces, and mandibles.

The use of artificial intelligence in orthodontics is emerging as a tool for localizing cephalometric points in two-dimensional X-rays. AI systems are being evaluated for their accuracy and efficiency compared to conventional methods performed by professionals. The main objective of this study is to identify the artificial intelligence algorithms that yield the best results for cephalometric landmark localization, along with their learning system.
