We examined the distribution of melanin during the development of the larvae of except the eyes with histological method. The results showed that after hatching, the appearance sequence of melanin in different organs were following an order of the outer membrane of neurocranium, the pericardial cavity and the dorsal skin, and the peritoneum and the spinal cord. Specifically, melanin appeared in the outer membrane of neurocranium around 5 DAH (days after hatching), in the pericardial cavity and the back skin at 7 DAH, and in the peritoneum and the spinal cord at 10 DAH. Melanin was found in the skin and internal organs (the outer membrane of neurocranium, the pericardial cavity, the peritoneum, the spinal cord) of at 10 DAH, which was mainly distributed on the back. The appearance and distribution of melanin in the postembryonic development of might be related to the high ultraviolet radiation. Our results could provide reference for further research on the UV protection mechanism of melanin for fish and provide theoretical support for the optimization of rearing conditions for larvae in the plateau.

Vibrio vulnificus is a significant zoonotic pathogen that causes severe vibriosis in humans and fish. The lack of a national annual surveillance program in China has hindered understanding of its epidemiological characteristics and genetic diversity. This study characterized 150 V.

Long-term silica exposure to silica dust leads to irreversible pulmonary fibrosis, during which lung fibroblast activation plays an essential role. Mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAMs) is a structural interface for communication between the outer mitochondrial membrane and the endoplasmic reticulum. VAPB-PTPIP51 is a key complex on MAMs.

The mitochondrial outer membrane (OMM) β-barrel proteins link the mitochondrion with the cytosol, endoplasmic reticulum, and other cellular membranes, establishing cellular homeostasis. Their active insertion and assembly in the outer mitochondrial membrane is achieved in an energy-independent yet highly effective manner by the Sorting and Assembly Machinery (SAM) of the OMM. The core SAM constituent is the 16-stranded transmembrane β-barrel Sam50.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane-bound vesicles that are shed or secreted from the cell membrane and enveloped by a lipid bilayer. They possess stability, low immunogenicity, and non-cytotoxicity, exhibiting extensive prospects in regenerative medicine (RM). However, natural EVs pose challenges, such as insufficient targeting capabilities, potential biosafety concerns, and limited acquisition pathways.

Outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM) proteins communicate with the cytosol and other organelles, including the endoplasmic reticulum. This communication is important in thermogenic adipocytes to increase the energy expenditure that controls body temperature and weight. However, the regulatory mechanisms of OMM protein insertion are poorly understood.
