A POM-based one-dimensional (1D) chain compound, {BWO[Cu(2,2'-bipy)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(HO)]}{BWO[Cu(2,2'-bipy)][Cu(2,2'-bipy)(HO)]}·7HO, has been synthesized and structurally characterized, which represents an unprecedented 1D double chain structure with opposite charges. In contrast to common POMs, this compound exhibits a relatively high electrical conductivity of 1.17 × 10 S cm at 25 °C. In addition, its semiconducting properties have also been investigated by application of photoelectrochemical sensing of HO.

Objective: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy, and its metastasis is one of the primary causes of treatment failure. Immunoglobulin superfamily member 1 (IGSF1), a membrane protein, has been associated with the aggressiveness and metastatic capability of various cancers. However, the role and mechanism of this protein in EC remains unclear.

Background: There is a growing interest in exploring the biological characteristics of nanoparticles and exploring their potential applications. However, there is still a lack of research into the potential genotoxicity of fullerene derivatives and their impact on gene expression in human cells. In this study, we investigated the effects of a water-soluble fullerene derivative, C60[C6H4SCH2COOK]5H (F1), on human embryonic lung fibroblasts (HELF).

Background/aim: To investigate the association between the rs2267437, rs5751129 and rs132770 polymorphisms of the gene, which plays a role in repairing DNA double-strand breaks, and the risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC).

Materials And Methods: The study included 150 patients who had been diagnosed with PTC and 204 healthy controls. Genotyping of the SNPs was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).

The gut microbiota alterations interact with the pathogenesis and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Probiotics have received wide attention as a potential management in CKD. We investigated the effects of Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 (LP N1115) on intestinal microbiota and related short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in end stage kidney disease patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) in a single-center, prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

Objective: To assess the association of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP) in recently menopausal women with white matter hyperintensity (WMH) volume later in life and determine whether short-term menopausal hormone therapy (mHT) modifies these associations.

Methods: Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS) was a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled 4-year mHT trial (oral conjugated equine estrogens or transdermal 17β-estradiol). KEEPS continuation was an observational follow-up of the participants 10 years after the end of mHT.
