The world's biomes and their associated ecosystems are artificially fractured by geopolitical boundaries that define countries. Yet 'transboundary' landscapes often overlap with biodiversity hotspots, contain surprisingly important ecosystems, and provide critical habitats for threatened species. Notwithstanding, biodiversity in these landscapes is increasingly imperiled by infrastructure, including walls and fences along borders and cross-border roads that drive landscape fragmentation and the loss of ecological connectivity.

- Ticks and tick-borne diseases (TBDs) greatly impact livestock production and economic stability in endemic regions, but there's limited information on their effects in Botswana.
- A study involving 301 cattle was conducted in northern Botswana to assess the prevalence of TB pathogens and the diversity of ixodid ticks, comparing areas with and without fences separating wildlife from livestock.
- Results indicated a high seroprevalence of TB pathogens in cattle, with 90% for one pathogen and significant tick populations, showing that while the presence of a fence did not greatly affect pathogen prevalence, it did help lower tick burdens.

Rewilding is increasingly recognized as a conservation tool but is often context specific, which inhibits broad application. Rewilding in Australia seeks to enhance ecosystem function and promote self-sustaining ecosystems. An absence of large-bodied native herbivores means trophic rewilding in mainland Australia has focused on the restoration of functions provided by apex predators and small mammals.

Correctional facilities offer opportunities to provide comprehensive HIV services including education, testing, treatment, and coordination of post- release care. However, these services may be undermined by unaddressed HIV stigma. As part of a prison-based HIV testing study, we interviewed 76 incarcerated men and women from the North Carolina State prison system.
