A highly sensitive lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) for imidacloprid, a widely used neonicotinoid insecticide, has been developed. The LFIA realizes the indirect coupling of anti-imidacloprid antibodies and gold nanoparticle (GNP) labels directly in the course of the assay. For this purpose, the common GNPs conjugate with anti-imidacloprid antibodies and are changed into a combination of non-modified, anti-imidacloprid antibodies, and the GNPs conjugate with anti-species antibodies.

Pomegranate is one of the most popular fruits worldwide, and it is important to maintain the overall quality and bioaccessibility of freshly squeezed pomegranate juices (PJS). The adverse effects of heat treatment on sensory properties and phytochemicals encourage the use of non-thermal processes in the juice industry. Hereby, the effects of high-pressure homogenization (HPH) (50, 100, and 150 MPa) on the physicochemical properties, antimicrobial activity, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant capacity of freshly-squeezed PJS from different genotypes were investigated.

Background: Orange juices are widely known for their organoleptic characteristics and potential health benefits derived from their nutritional and functional composition.

Objectives: The aim of this work was to provide comprehensive, up-to-date information on the content of folates and some minerals (Ca, K, Mg, Fe, Mn, and Zn) present in different fresh and commercial orange juices available in the European market, including juices from concentrate (FC) and not from concentrate (NFC).

Methods: A total of twenty-five juice samples were selected, comprising the most purchased types of commercial juices from France, the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, and Spain, and four fresh squeezed juices (FSJ) made from Spanish oranges.

Purpose Of Review: While primary prevention strategies target individuals who are at high risk of cardiovascular disease, there is rising interest towards primordial prevention that focuses on preventing the development of risk factors upstream of disease detection. Therefore, we review the advantages of primordial prevention interventions on minimizing future cardiovascular events.

Recent Findings: Primordial prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease involves behavioral, genetic, and environmental strategies, starting from fetal/infant health and continuing throughout childhood and young adulthood.
