The authors present a case of an adolescent female who presented to the emergency department with a second case of tonsillitis in the span of two weeks. The patient recovered after treatment with a broader-spectrum antibiotic and was discharged home. The authors highlight the importance of weighing the costs and benefits of tonsillectomy with the potential that additional antibiotics may be enough in cases of recurrent tonsillitis.

The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to identify the prevalence of synchronous contralateral tonsil carcinoma (SCTC) amongst patients with tonsil carcinoma or head and neck squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary (HNSCCUP). Thirteen retrospective studies, comprising 2623 patients, were analysed, revealing an overall pooled SCTC prevalence of 4%, rising to 10% in HNSCCUP cases. HPV/p16 positivity was associated with SCTC prevalence of 3%, while HPV/p16 negativity was greater at 8%.

Objective: This study aims to explore the clinical effects of simultaneous balloon eustachian tuboplasty (BET) in treating chronic secretory otitis media (COME) in children with bilateral tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy (TAH), providing a theoretical basis for the clinical application of BET.
Methods: From January 2023 to January 2024, 30 children diagnosed with COME and bilateral TAH were included in this retrospective study at our hospital. The cohort comprised a total of 55 affected ears.
