Zircon-type NdVOand scheelite-type PrVOhave been studied by means of Raman spectroscopy up to approximately 20 GPa. In the first compound, zircon-scheelite and scheelite-fergusonite phase transitions are reported at 6.4(3) and 19.6(4) GPa, respectively. In the case of scheelite-type PrVO, a reversible phase transition to a PbWO-III structure is observed at 16.8(5) GPa. In both cases, a scheelite-type structure is recovered in a metastable state at low pressures. The pressure evolution of the Raman modes is also reported. Our experimental findings are supported bycalculations, which allowed us to discuss the role of mechanic and dynamical instabilities in the phase transition mechanisms.

The study reports on the use of sol-gel technique to yield zircon type [Zr GdxTi ] [(SiO ) (PO ) ] solid solution. Titanium has been used as a mineralizer to trigger zircon formation while equimolar concentrations of Gd and PO were added to determine their accommodation limits in the zircon structure. The crystallization of t-ZrO as a dominant phase alongside the crystallization of m-ZrO and zircon were detected at 1200°C while their further annealing revealed the formation of zircon as a major phase at 1300°C.

The degradation of organic dye pollutants is a critical environmental issue that has garnered significant attention in recent years. To address this problem, we investigated the potential of CaCrO chromite (CCO) as a photocatalyst for the degradation of cationic and anionic dye solutions under sunlight irradiation. CaCrO was synthesized via a sol-gel auto-combustion route and sintered at 900 °C.

Pesticides are used to promote the growth of plants and crops by killing weeds and other pests. On the other hand, overused and unused pesticides can leach into groundwater and agricultural lands, easily contaminating water, air, and soil resources. Doping with metal ions is an effective method to improve the catalytic activity of potential electrode materials.
